This was a honor to work with all the Black fraternities and Sororities paying tribute to my frat brother Eddie Robinson A-phi!! I have had the pleasure to choreograph the Naacp Image awards 3yrs and this year was one of my favorites. Shout out sands!! Step by Step, NPHC, and vic!!
I remember watching this when it aired in '95 and could not wait to pledge. The Iotas did not become a full member of the PanHel until '96 which is most likely the reason they were not a part of the tribute.
The Elite 8 was in Full Force in this performance!! Love the Unity. GOMAB to my Bro's of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc., and Dove Love to my Sororz of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., #TeamZetaPhiBetaSigma BLU-PHI!!!
Not one time did I hear where stepping originated from. 😔 dates back to Africa. - The African gumboot dance performed by dancers in boots is one of stepping's biggest influence as well as Zulu dance.
IMO, Sigmas had the most difficult step with a lot of movement and they executed well. SGRhos had a nice sequence and those syncopated handclaps take a LOT of practice to get right. I'm an Alpha and former step member on championship teams. I remember practicing with my team until 1am. Practice does pay off!
I remember years ago trying to explain what you just said to a GDI. She was saying that the SIGMAS came wack. I tried to explain to her and some of my own frat brothers that them SIGMAS was mad intricate that night. GOMAB!
Wow!! That's something that I needed to see!! Shout out to the Ice Cold Brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. But I tip my hat off to them all.. this was a very well put together show!! ~Cold World ~4-BO-FA11
Black on Black fine! Love seeing unity in our community. "A man of quality is not threatened by a man of equality" We must all not only step, stomp and stroll together, but build, uplift, mentor and see it through together. Frats, Sororities, Churches, service groups and community political/grass root groups...there is enough need in our community for all of us to work as one. (1911 sure did look good though....lol)
Omg!!!! I remember watching this on tv. It was the very first time i ever watched steppers. Never knew what they ere called. Or r l what it was for. I was young young. But was amazed by this.
As a Spr 13 Neo, this is something very special to me. We don't have the underlying unity as we once did on this video anymore. I hope to change that. RQQ
i would LOVE to see the Divine 9 step like this in the 20th century and come together for a cause like the NAACP or whatever,. but today they seem criticize, and hate each other smh.
