Sorry just finished my jammer arms and forgot to tag you. Thanks for the video & help that came along with it to do mine. They came out great. I modified them a little bit to fit my half rack but they work well
For the 60" mounting bar, alternatively you could have simply drilled a few holes into the side of your uprights and used a step bit to open them up to the desired 1" hole size rather than adding to the cost with those mounting brackets. Aside from that...nice build, thanks.
In a half rack? Perhaps… is it bolted down? If it is - you are good ( i think). If it is not bolted - then you could still use it…but SOME exercises (especially if going heavy with the brackets mounted in HIGH positions) could cause a tipping hazard.
You should PVA the the holes to stop the wood from drying out and cracking. Also if you wood stain it before you paint, the inevitable dings won't be visible.
@@DesignBuildLift Wood splitting due to fast drying is probably not an issue in the USA TBF from what I've seen online but kiln dried 4be4s just don't exist in the UK, I've looked high and low. I did find that wood gluing the freshly drilled holes and sawn ends does greatly mitigate checking and splitting. As for the dye I found India ink to be the best black stain for wood. 2 coats of that with 2 coats of black spray and my home made gym kit is ding proof 💪
Thank you so much! As far as the weight capacity- to be honest I have no idea. I have put some serious weight on it, but I don’t want to offer the number for fear of someone getting hurt trying to replicate that number. All I can say is - there is a very slim chance that you couldn’t get a great workout with these even if you are incredibly strong. I would say that you should start with a low weight- then work your way up to wherever you are comfortable. 💪 There are many more Episodes of the Omega Arms Series to come - so please Subscribe to the RU-vid channel to be notified the moment that the next video drops! 🙏
Sorry to hear that! 3/4” nipples should definitely fit in the 1 1/8” hole. Perhaps the hole(s) you drilled is/are not straight ? To remedy the situation- I think you have the right idea. Bore out the holes little by little until it fits. Please let me know how it turns out!
@@DesignBuildLift my plan is to go with 1 1/4 Forstner bit with a bit extension as that’s the most consistent thing I’ve been able to do. The nipple caps do cover the hole but there is a little play. Looking into a sleeve or collared washer assuming the handles are true 90 degrees. Enjoy the channel a lot.
Not sure how to measure that. I would have to measure the mechanical advantage compared to the weight of the arms…but I got a B minus in high school physics - so? Also - different configurations of the Omega Arms (for each exercise) is going to have different mechanical advantages…That being said - each movement with Zero plates-- is very easy. Just as easy as any other commercial plate-loaded machine with no plates on it. Just think of this as any other plate loaded machine. When you use a plate loaded machine at a commercial gym, you just add the weight and exercise. Then you add or take off weight based on how it feels. This is no different. Hopefully this answers your question. Thank you for supporting the channel! I do appreciate it!!! If you make your own Omega Arms - please let me know! 🙏💪🤘
My rack has sliding safety guides and j-cups with pop pins that can't be detached. I would love to make arms like this and wall mount them away from my rack. When not in use they could be folded up against the wall, out of the way. Maybe 3x3 steel rack uprights instead of wood 4x4s.
Great idea! Of course the steel would be more expensive. I would buy used uprights or even head to a scrap yard to acquire the steel. If you make a steel version please show it off and tag me on Instagram 🙏🤘💪
Thank you for your support! To be honest- I am not sure how much I spent. But I know that is was a lot cheaper than buying commercial equipment to execute all these movements. Your cost is going to of course depend on where you shop and if you can buy in bulk. The Parts list is available at DIYFitnessClub.com - Cheers! 🙏
Yes. However, generally speaking setup time with all projects that offer a ton of versatility can be a little time consuming. The “Inverted Leg Press” was my absolute favorite - so I primarily kept in in that configuration- mounted to the rear if my rack. However, I removed them from my rack for most subsequent unrelated videos because people weren’t paying attention to what i was saying- instead they were distracted by its presence. They were thinking what the hell is that big black thing mounted to the back of that rack… If I didn’t have a RU-vid channel - it would have been mounted there virtually 100% of the time. I recently sold that rack, and I am in the process of assembling a new rack… Rep Fitness PR5000 6 post rack with Ares Attachment. Unfortunately, The Ares attachment will likely interfere with me using the Omega Arms as an Inverted Leg Press.
I think the Omega Arms do a good job of mimicking the Titan Upright Farmers Walk Handles. www.titan.fitness/strongman/carry/farmers-walk/upright-farmer-walk-handles/430021.html
You dont NEED to use a Tee. You can also use regular caps, floor flanges , even elbows…etc… i just prefer one Tee per bracket because they are easiest to turn to ensure that it is REALLY tight on the rack- just my preference… i had footage explaining that… but video was getting too long- and had to trim the fat
