Omega (www.omegabrush.com/?lang=en) is an Italian company that is most well known for their shaving brushes and painting brushes. The company was established in 1931 and began as a manufacturer of bristles only before expanding their production to complete brushes. The company now has a world wide reputation for providing high quality wet shaving brushes and in addition to direct buys from their website, Omega has a list of stockists the rivals any company in wet shaving.
Omega Evo Silversynth aims to provide a feel that is close to natural hair brushes, specifically a badger brush. The Evo Silversynth fibers are extremely similar if not identical to the synthetic fibers used by other world wide grooming companies, most notably Muhle STF v2 and Edwin Jagger Synthetic Silver Tip. The Evo Silversyth tufts boast an extremely technical weave which allow the brush to retain water in the knot in a similar fashion to that of a natural badger brush. The handle is made of marble effect resin and the height of the handle is 55 mm with the loft of the knot set at 55 mm, also. The brush weighs 100 gr dry.
I have been impressed by the sensation of the Omega Evo Silversynth when using it for both face and dome lathers. While nothing synthetic feels exactly like natural hair brushes, the Omega Evo Silversynth comes as close as I have experienced. Much like the Muhle STF v2 and Edwin Jagger Synthetic Silver Tip, this brush is of medium density and the tips are very soft. The backbone is in the middle for me. The spring of these fibers are where you can tell the brush is not natural. The pressure to splay the brush has an unnatural “spring” to it that will take some getting used to. In terms of overall experience though, this brush provides a luxury feeling with the consistency and durability of synthetic fiber brushes.

You know what I like about your videos, you actually put the product in the camera frame and hold it there, unlike it seems like everyone else who shows us the product for 1 second and then it's just their face talking the rest of the vid.

Hi Ruds- Great brush review; thank you! I appreciate that you included a reference to the Simpson Chubby 2 Synthetic at the end! I hope you are having a great weekend and all the best!

Thanks Mike. I’m not sure if I conveyed it correctly, but I feel like the Simpson Chubby synthetic uses the same fibers but a much lower loft. This completely changes the experience for me.

Yes, understood, and I appreciate the clarification. The Omega loft does look higher; definitely a nice painter. Thanks!

Nice thorough look at this new brush. Thanks, Ruds! I've tried a bunch of synthetic brushes and while they perform really well, I still can't let go of my natural fiber brushes. Especially badger. I have a 23mm Muhle STFv2 that is nice, but a little small for me. I looked into the larger STFv2 and couldn't justify the cost to myself. You're right, this new Omega is on the luxury price side. Cheers! -Rob

Thanks for the review Ruds, wish you were able to do a rating like you do on the soaps but I imagine that would be difficult if not impossible especially on a synthetic brush

I’ve thought about it, but there are so many factors and so many preferences when it comes to face feel of a brush.

Very interesting review of this relatively new synthetic fibre. Although I have a decent amount of synthetic brushes, I have never tried this fibre so far. Unfortunately, IMHO the price is ridiculously high for a synthetic.

You took the words out of my mouth. What bothers me about synthetic brushes is the artificial way they all splay. I have 3 good synthetics and do use them especially when traveling but they are not my first choice.

Thanks for the review Ruds. If you were to chose between the Evo, the muhle stf and the EJ synthetic, which one would you pick? And why? Thanks 😉 see ya
@dendj55
@dendj55 4 года назад
Great question. Given that the knots all feel the same, I’d go with the EVO, because the 28mm version is priced the best.

Nice video sir! I have a muhle syntetic brush and i was interesting to buy this omega evo. Do you think it is redundant to have them both? Sorry for my english. Greetings from Romania!

Your English is wonderful. Do not apologize. The Mule and the Evo are so similar I would consider them redundant.

Does it have that “springy” feel like other synthetic brushes? That’s the part I don’t like and keeps me from using them.

Don’t get me wrong, it is a good looking brush but, $65!? 😧 Get the fuck out of here with that! That’s unreal for an Omega brush, or even for a synthetic knot for that matter! However, I’ve gotta give credit where credit is due. It’s like I said, it’s a nice looking brush, as is the knot & it has surely peaked my interest that’s for sure! But to be quite honest with you, I would probably either wait for the price to come down significantly, or source that knot from another distributor. $65, is $65, money don’t grow on trees you know, I mean come on, right!? 🤷🏻‍♂️ 😅 When you talked about the spring and bounce, that’s one of the main reasons why I choose my natural’s over my synthetic’s. Although I’ve got a handful of them myself. Some with excessive spring back bounce, some with mild & a few that are just perfect! 👌🏼 But most importantly, to each their own right!? Thanks for this review brother! 😉🤙🏼
