Rolex is nothing but a poseur's brand. Good watches, great for their in-house metallurgists and forging of precious metals. But no where near the hype that they get. I think Jaeger, Omega Grand Seiko and Patek make the best pure watches on the market.
Sorry, but you are not correct. Omega are on the same level of respect as Rolex. The only difference is that Rolex is strongly advertised by these so-called celebrities, so Rolex basically became synonymous with "luxury watch". But PR and reality are far from being the same thing.
Are you kidding? They’re not as respected by who? They are definitely one of the most respected brands in the industry. Their back catalogue of achievements is a wish list for most other brands. Is the brand as well known by the general public compared to Rolex, maybe not but that’s more to do with brand awareness than credibility. C’mon, that respectability comment is fishing surely!
@@patmustardlive that is what I would expect from Rolex fan boys, Rolex know that people will buy their watches at any price, a higher price never just means better. 😂
@@glenbuyer8738 This is Bullshit. Everyone knows Rolex. Ask 100 of People who are not related to watches, the ones saying Rolex will be two/three times more than omega. I don't like the fact either, but its reality.
@@excention7338 yeah and 90 percent of those who know Rolex would immediately assume yours is fake, that is reality. As for omega it’s a well known brand and not particularly well known for fakes (although they obviously exist). The originally comment I believe was more directed at the watch community anyway, out of those people who vaguely know the Rolex logo, how many could name any of their achievements? The facts are watches mean little anyone these days, except watch people and all watch people know omega.
By far my favorite brand in the industry. An incredible heritage, great designs, innovations like the co-axial escapement and some of the most iconic watches ever made. That's enough for me.
It’s a watch I’ve been lucky enough to own for the last 10 years and still puts a smile on my face when I see it. I do think it has a certain charm which the newer one doesn’t have
After two years my Seamaster is the evidence for me, i bought the right watch. It costs much, and after these years it felt the price was a bargain for what i get. I would not hesitate at all to buy another Omega watch, cause i know i would be satisfied.
Nice video. The only thing i do not agree is posing Omega, rolex and other strong horology watches as « on a budget ». Maybe i am biased but brands like Seiko or Tissot would probably be more in phase as the entry brands in mechanical watches and first « good »watch..? Rolex and Omega are quite expensive in my opinion. Well worthy of their price, but here the average income is around 40k per year. So buying a 7-10k watch command a certain dedication...
Tissot definitely affordable near-luxury watch. Seiko, it kind of depends on the Series, as the Presages have an affordable Cocktail line, but then the price jumps up from near $1000 to the $4-5k range (mainly those with Spring Drive). Then Grand Seiko picks up and runes on up there in price. I've discovered Longines this last year and am having a problem prying my Flagship dress watch from my arm, it's so thin and and accurate, and I love the alligator strap). They definitely have a range that starts in the $1000 range (new) and climb from there, so not bad for a luxury watch (plus they have a long history and a vault of classic designs from the past they can call on for inspiration). Omega is definitely a luxury watch that you can find some RELATIVELY affordable watches, particularly if you're willing to buy a preowned watch from a reputable source. Plus, you're generally not paying the inflated Rolex prices for a watch that's equally well made.
Omega is like a Samsung phone, every five minute there is a new model a new limited edition and a new something. Rolex is like Apple and Porsche 911. Once you buy a watch you will never be out of fashion. Good conservative approach On mechanical front yes Omega seems a better watch but they have to STOP milking the themes ( Bond, Moon, Olympics). Omega needs to make themselves more collectible
How wrong can you be ” Omega is not as widely respected as Rolex”?? Are you kidding. Omega watches are better technically. Rolex is spending a huge budget on marketing (and ot seems it works for you 🤔). Omega is the better watch. Rolex is the more widely known brand.
