Big Omega fan here (have a SMP300, Aqua Terra, and a Speedmaster)... love the release! Well done in my opinion. Glad Omega also stuck to their iconic design and didn't touch the SMP bracelet.
I just got a JC Deepsea from my AD (lots of initials there) and now I want to put a deposit in on the 300M Pro. Do I have a problem? I have a problem, don't I?
19:48 Revolution Watch was definitely there for the launch and covering it. In fact, Weih Koh was the presenter who introduced Omega CEO Raynald Aeschlimann to the stage, Revolution’s Eleonor Picciotto was also there covering the event.
They clearly didn’t prep for this video. Ben Clymer from Hodinkee was there, Robert from Fratello was there, Andrew from Tide and Time was there. I really wish they did more research before their videos, it makes them look stupid.
Great video, I think this is a pretty solid release. I too would love a tapered bracelet, a thinner case, yada yada. But this is such a solid, integrated and consistent update to the entire line. I think with an anniversary that's more important than a few tweaks here and there on a single watch.
It's not true that they "only changed the colors". The Ploprof has a completely new case, including smaller size and monobloc construction and new dial (without applique logo & markers). The seamaster 300 now features a ceramic bezel (whereas the current model has an aluminum one). And both the ploprof and the ultra deep feature the new O-Megasteel. Omegas very own new steel alloy. So they are tweaking some things here and there and probably also testing them. Cheers boys.
I was waiting for Omega to issue the Seamaster 300 Pro and Planet Ocean Chronographs with this 75th Anniversary dial, but no love for the Diver Chronographs, of all the releases, my favorite is the Ultra Deep with the dial Easter egg, that cheeky jab at Rolex and their Deep Sea Challenge, the is why I like Omega so much.
Love the channel In this one I don’t share the enthusiasm on these Omega releases though Nothing is vastly new, particularly striking, or screams “must have”, and the ultra deep is ripping off the Deep Sea Blue. Wish Omega focused on the bracelet and went bolder with the dial (texture / natural stone etc) Omega Seamaster 300 (vintage) probably the pick of the bunch, swapped up with a different strap
About 15-20 years ago, Apple stopped holding bi-annual Macworld trade shows-where they were expected to announce new products-so they could make product announcements whenever they wanted during the year, when the products were ready to show. Omega seems to have taken notes from that playbook, which is smart. The fact that these watches were ready to show the same week in stores shows they learned their lesson from the 2022 botched Aqua Terra release, so it's a win all around IMO.
This release is just for an anniversary, don’t forget that. They will redesign the seamaster soon without a doubt. You guys just love complaining. It’s like the morning ritual for y’all, anyways bracelet is unique and not like every other oyster styled bracelet.
Guys you missed the point with the ploprof... its a monoblock case and they brought the size down. The original was big but it was not the monster that came back first in steel then titanium. I do hope they bring a bracelet eventually for this new one.
@@Judah.Rosenthal I almost bought the previous model with the grey dial and orange bezel. I love the way it looks but the height of the watch stopped me. I am super excited to try the new one on and I expect to end up with one.
The indices on the smaller AT are the shape of a boat. So, Michael, they do kinda start above the water, move to the deck on the 41, then on down from there
I agree that an open case back is usually preferred but these are cool since it’s for an anniversary piece. Very cool. And the light blue is nice. Well done omega.
The previous ploprof has a lug to lug around the same size as a submariner. If you like big watches, it’s perfectly wearable. The thing no one is talking about is they made the ploprof smaller. It’s lug to lug is only 45mm, which for me I think is more wearable than a submariner.
Do you know is these engraved cases and the dials are going to be a short production run? They don’t want to do official limited editions anymore, but limited duration production would limit numbers are make them collectible (e.g. the silver snoopy isn’t limited in numbers but hard to get so it’s collected).
U can tell if ur watching T&H vid if you hear atleast two of these words: 1. "Reaaally?" 2. "Wowww" 3."Thats Craaazy" 4. "Interestingg" 5. "Fascinatingg" 6. "INGcredible"
The Electric Blue Peter Blake was the best Summer Blue they ever did. That dial and bracelet are so original that I’m shocked they haven’t brought it back.
Long time viewer, first time comment writer. Where is Theo and Harris? It’s just Christian and Michael. Also I have this weird feeling that Omega isn’t finished releasing watches for this year they might bring out a special edition diver 300m as it’s now 30 years old.
here is what i d like to see smp: the seamster 300 is thinner and smaller et i has the 8900 series of movement which is arguably a better movement than the 8800. So i would expect a change there. generaly: smaller sizes would be appreciated or improvement in terms of bracelet fit and finish. Also maybe a new material, titanium fot example , in some of these watches. I like the caseback prsonally although i think the aqua terras should have kept the see throuh caseback as is more inkeeping with their character. And its not to say that the watches are not great, but they could do a few more things.
The whole Zero move is bizarre. Just trying to exploit the people who watch further. As much as we would like to do a meet up. To pay a man a monthly fee to meet with them is so weird. If you ever plan to do a real meet up, looking forward to it.
"Watch people are always upset." = Tenet #1 of horology. I thoroughly enjoyed this discussion. I think the storytelling with this collection and the gradient was brilliant. Usually I prefer display casebacks but the engraved back on these is super desirable. If I didn't have a seamaster I'd be camped outside of an OB right now like I was waiting for a moonswatch. 😛
It’s the ‘fattest” watch. That’s a general issue Grand Seiko and Omega share, chunky sports watches with disappointing bracelets. When you add in confusing product line up and multiple special editions with new dial colours, I sometimes think they are the same company.
The truth is that this release is a let down. And I’m an Omega fanboy, big time. It just seems like there should have been something more significant than just a new deal color for this anniversary. And same old issues with the bracelet on the SMP300 (outdated) and the AquaTerra (no micro adjust). Omega please make the crown on the AquaTerra a little bigger and not muffin shaped! 😮
I'm still waiting for the day Christian's photo appears on the news saying "ex pornstar pervert serial killer arrested for a number of homicides" or something, I mean, look at that mustache, come on!
I actually thought they were critical and comfortable sharing their opinions, without seeming overtly positive. Despite them saying “Pro Prof” instead of “Ploprof”…
Legendary? Hhhmmm my dictionary must have the wrong definition. A major milestone and we got....... Blue . They are very nice but what a disappointment considering the occasion. What would have marked this land mark properly would be industry standard 70 hour power reserve , thinner movement , tapers on bracelets and proper micro adjust . I do like the watches though and I would have been impressed in a normal year
Big fan. Quick question: have y'all thought of taking your substantial marketing prowess and turning it inward? Not on the T&H RU-vid...thing specifically, but on the larger subgenre of watch related RU-vidrs. You mentioned Teddy B briefly, and it got me thinking. I would love to see your take on...most anything, really. But building up the larger community you are a part of would be good for all, right?
Nothing legendary just another color and not even a open case back. Worst thing the 300M STILL has this ugly bracelet! The ultra deep is cool I must say!
A caseback should only be sapphire instead of engraved if the movement itself is more beautiful than an engraved caseback, which none of these high volume watches is doing.
Same Omega, same issues. Instead of playing like Tudor and fumbling around with dial colors, they should address their messy portfolio and the average thickness of their watches, which is at this (price) point laughably. I'm not sure where they are going, but they make profits, but Hublot does so as well...nuff said.
Omega doesn't wear thick. On paper they appear that way. My speedmaster 3861 is bigger and thicker on paper than my 16610 sub... but when worn the 16610 wears chunky and the speedmaster wears slimmer and smaller. Nuff said .. not double hearsay rumor 😂
@@Mega-zi7ys I mean, I've tried on a Aqua Terra before and the Aqua Terra Worldtimer. Both wore thick, but I get that it doesn't bother some people, same with Tudor. For me it's just that magical 12mm barrier a watch mustn't overshoot.
To may comment below: I know that Swatch is from Switzerland, but Omega at the high mechanical watch segment should not behave like Swatch. Great Watches but the marketing is for me so dissapointing. Why has Daniel Craig designed the Bond watch and not the guys from the British Special Service? I cannot understand this. And candy blue watches for a 75th Seamaster anniversary - this is it? Better buy a Hanhart 417 ES.
yeah idk, I feel like this release doesn't appeal to me. If i am getting an omega, I want to see that movement. Getting an AT with a closed caseback just doesn't vibe with me, even if its some anniversary thing. Also, I just prefer the colors of the other seamasters anyways. Although, I do agree that the marketing for the release seemed cool.
Overall i like this releases however to many as always. It transcends as desperation to find something that sticks. Rolex does it better as always. As for the celebrity "friends of the brand" you guys mentioned, why is Daniel Craig wearing a Rolex in his private life, while all Rolex ambassadors actually wear a Rolex in all circumstances on or off the spotlight, Federer, Sir Jacky Stewart, James Cameron, Lindsey Vonn... Plus did Rolex ever Faked a watch to create hype? Asking for a friend...?
