They are also breaking the law as it is illegal to keep this species in their home. These channels pop up with baby macaques, keep them until they are no longer cute and click worthy YT 'stars' and then what? Dump them back into the forests when they have been so humanized they will fall easy prey to the first predator? By subscribing to these channels and getting them to the 1k monetisation threshold YT viewers are supporting the illegal trade in non-human primates. I know people argue that deforestation is the main factor puttting these species on the endangered list but the Barbary macaques are also now endangered...exclusively because of the pet trade. There are other YT channels like the VMF and Kiko that film macaques without destroying their lives or distressing them for YT views.
