Only Led Zeppelin, in the middle of Rock concert, could pull up stools to the edge of the stage, play an acoustic set and have the crowd love it. Best Rock band ever. So versatile. So beautiful.
I'm 62 as well and remember the 70s all too well! No cell phones and internet and people like the one that made the shoddy comment! Great comeback girl!
@scott1395 Thank you so much! It was a great time wasn't it?! A time when public displays of hateful comments were few and embarrassing. When we walked into a store and clerks were polite and welcoming instead of rudely implying you're a thief as they check your reciept out the door? Real gas station attendants who thanked you for your business while cleaning your windshield. Music with substance and meaning. Dr Hook and the medicine show cracked me up! I am so glad you connected with me...doesn't happen with good folks anymore. This was fun thanks again.
Thanks, Sarah - i love this song - This was written when LZ were crushing on Joni Mitchell. She was the California girl (she was living in Laurel Canyon) with love in her eyes and flowers in her hair (oh, she sings!). I hope you'll take a long and deep look into her -
76 years old this year! Blown away by album one. Still blown away today. No other group has ever had the ability to deliver the different genre/versatility in their catalogue as Led Zepp.
I grew up with them and other contemporary bands, I feel so blessed! No disrespect to the new stuff but I really cannot get into it. Some days I wonder where all the talent went to.
I'll take you back there, Sarah. In the fall of 1973, I saw these guys play an afternoon concert at Kezar Stadium in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. I've seen a lot of classic rock acts live, and I have seen some utterly unbelievable performances along the way. But none can compare to that afternoon in San Francisco. You won't find a Led Zeppelin in this generation, Sarah, because there is and always will be only one Led Zeppelin. 😁 ✌️
A young lady with an old soul. I say it all the time your love for great music is unmatched. It's great to watch your reactions when a song really hits you. Please don't ever stop doing these reactions I look forward to watching each and every one.
I don’t believe I’ve ever seen your reactions before, I’m a huge fan of Led Zeppelin, & I love your beautiful reaction. I’m not sure how much Led Zeppelin you have listened to, but they play a variety of genres, Rock Blues Folk & even a Reggae song. Everything the play is beautiful, the greatest band to ever grace this planet. They have a beautiful set of acoustics, 4 of the greatest musicians ever. Robert Plant lead singer & harmonica* Jimmy Page lead guitarist founder & music producer* John Paul Jones bass guitarist keyboards & other instruments* & John (Bonzo) Bonham RIP, the greatest drummer. A great Blues song, Since I’ve Been Loving You, live at Madison Square Gardens (1973).
Zeppelin wasn't just some Rock band. They covered massive amounts of genre's. This is one facet. Such a great song. Everything about this short tune is great. Everything.
RobertPlant wrote the lyrics as an ode to JoniMitchell, who'd released the lp Blue, and which included the classic song California... Everyone in music loved Joni during the '70s! Sorry you got some hate in comments about using the live version here, Sarah, but, imo, Zepp does a beautiful version of the studio song! Thanx for your usual heartfelt reaction.
Good to see Zepp getting their flowers in the 2020s. Since 1980 and my first cassette of Zeppelin at age 8, I was hooked and have heard nothing as good since.
This was a fantastic concert. Between ZEPPELIN- Pink Floyd- and a few others, my high School days were filled with Spiritful soul lifting music. ( 68-73)
Never did see Led Zeppelin. Had tickets twice. Both tours cancelled, the first Plant's son passed suddenly their last tour cancelled by Bonham passing. 🙏🎶
I had tickets for them at the old Boston Garden, a friend went down and scored tickets for 6 of us BUT then Mayor Kevin White cancelled their license to play because 2,000 fans crammed into the lobby and vandalized the place while tickets were sold at 2AM to get everyone out of there. Catastrophe for us as they never played anywhere in New England again. Tickets for anywhere else always sold out right away, everyone wanted to see them...
65 years old now. Saw them in 1973 in Chicago. General Admission meant rush the stage when the doors opened but getting banged up a bit was worth being able to sit 15 feet from the stage and experience this at that exact time and place. Magical.
Half of what you are hearing instrumentally is John Paul Jones on Mandolin, I think the camera spend to much time on Page and doesn't show Jones playing, which I think makes the song so beautiful.
Jones was like John Entwhistle of the WHO, standing or sitting off to the side, in the shadows of the others up front, who can't do their magic without him.
Fun facts: Led Zeppelin has sold over 112 million records in The U.S. (5th all-time), and has had 7 number 1 albums on The Billboard charts, and had 16 hit singles, but they have NEVER had a number 1 song on The Billboard charts...
Zeppelin hardly released singles (never in Britain) and those that were released were without the blessing of the band and Atlantic records tended to edit them down to make them short. Zeppelin never performed on British or American tv either. In Britain they had 8 number one albums on the trot, which was a record for decades. Not bad for a band that was never part of the accepted mainstream.
Acoustic or electric, they could do it all and better than anyone else. The GOATS of Rock! Try the Battle of Evermore off the same album, it is another acoustic masterpiece. Heart also does a great cover of it. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
I loved your reaction and saw it while you listened. It lifted my heart. I was there...74 yrs...the times were beautiful a golden age filled the air- to create (started in the 60's along with Martin Luther King movement etc, The Vietnam war, and parents that came out of WWII. A mindset to overcome. A new age of dreams! The dreamines followed by hard rock.... Excess... Liberties were born, balance fought over, but we did "walk on the moon". Looking for the new dawn...
My first time to your channel. Lady you have selected a darn good song by one of the best groups EVER!!!! Classic........ For the record, girl there is NO bad Led Zeppelin music, none!!!!!!! Take care and have a great 2024!!!!!!............. Later!!!!
65 here and listened to Led Zeppelin since early childhood (youngest child of a large family) They had such range and their quiet songs have always held me spellbound. Still do! 😽🎶
I saw them in 1975 and 1977 and the acoustic set in 77 was one of the highlights. I was surprised that I enjoyed it so much. It still gives me goosebumps. John Paul Jones shows how talented he is. I imagine he can play anything.
❤❤❤Sarah, I was blessed to have seen Led Zeppelin in 1977 and was shown their complete mastery and artistry. I must agree with your reaction and wish I could transport you back to that era. I am truly blessed to have grown up and experienced such great music...❤❤❤
Greatest Rock and Roll Band ever! Our era was the greatest ever! I love that my grandchildren listen to a lot of the music from my generation! I’m in my 70th year…
JPJ tocando la mandolina. El era capaz de tocar, a la perfección, mas de 25 instrumentos. Un genio musical poco reconocido, pero imprescindible para Zeppelin.
That era would be unrecognizable to anyone born more recently, and I caught some of it being 64. Peace and love more so, Viet Nam, big changes were happening in society which before and after is still much different from now, also in music fortunately for the much better. I was able to visit my sisters commune in Oregon when I was 12 years old. Seems pretty magical now.
check this zeppelin song, from the live album 'the song remains the same' the song 'whole lotta love' heres the thing tho. u need to find the pre- remaster original album version because the remaster is 40 seconds shorter. they edited out an great guitar riff toward the front. its a whopping 14;25 long but well worth it.
my teenage years were THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME zeppelin/MADE IN JAPAN....purple/SECONDS OUT....genesis/YESSONGS....yes/MOONFLOWER.... santana/LIVE AND DANGEROUS....lizzy/SPACE RITUAL....hawkwind/LIVE AT THE BUDOKAN....ian gillan band........and all the other great albums that came out around this time....
I finally made it to CA in '77. Stayed in a third floor apartment just blocks from Haight-Ashbury. Felt like a different country, maybe a different planet. I remember more of that trip than any other I've taken since.
Flowers in the hair seems twee now but the days of us hippies were magical, great living , wonderful music and living to love and working to live, not living to work. Content with what we had until the corporations too over. I saw Led Zeppelin at the 'Bath Festival of Blues and Progressive Music' in 1970 among nearly, 200,000 people. There were many other great bands at that festival, such as Pink Floyd and the Moody Blues (watch their video "Knights in White Satin" with a full orchestra - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MjUqfRrWwcM.htmlsi=lGP6KtV9i0QyXHqr ). Living to Love, and of course care.
You should do a reaction video on Led Zeppelin's epic 'Song Remains The Same' / 'Rain Song' tandem songs. Magic. They were definitely made to be played back-to-back in the stated order. 'Ten Years Gone' would be another great one also.
I like these listen togethers at night. I feel like I'm sharing the song with someone else even tho I don't know you. I don't feel alone. It was an amazing moment in time.
