Here is a video of me digging a coin spill from the river with my Garrett AT Pro. In this video, I have recovered 178 silver coins dating from 1837 and before from this site. Sorry about all of the "check it out"s in the video, but I was just a tad excited. Be sure to check out the end of the video if you get too bored to make it all the way through. UPDATE See my video "Aquachigger's Cache..." for up close photos of every coin.

In October of 2012 Dug a small hole in my backyard and hit a metal object. I found a old teapot type container with the words Philadelphia furnace. Inside there was a cloth that wrapped up over 300 dollars in gold coins all dated prior to 1858

I am rewatching this video for the first time in years. The last time I watched it was when Beau first put it on RU-vid, had maybe a couple thousand views. On Saturday, March 16th, 2019, I dug first 2 reale. I was so, SO excited, and I still attribute my detecting addiction to Beau after so many years. This is where it started for me.

I see titles like this ALL THE TIME, and 90% of the time, it's clickbait. Not you, good sir. Every time I've clicked on one of your videos, I see exactly what the title says. It says something about a channel, when it's content is so cool it doesn't need clickbait like every other channel seems to.

Creeks were Horse Highways back then and when water was high, even a horse would slip and dunk trying to cross. Rivers people travelled on raft to start new life and water high even tiny bend one would get moving to fast and run into the corner and lose everything. Homes robbed, maybe native American attack and Indians had no use so would chuck... My area native Held even in 1840''s, in spots they camped but prior it was their land...White eyes junk mattered not to them. In fields between Maryland and Penna, can find spots where settlers traded with Colonials and coppers were not shiny so would get tossed in the dirt.. Darn amazing!!!!.....This guy hit epic jackpot with numismatic value has to be $50k graded... would love to know...

@@cousinsgrimm7952 I did not just make it up as detecting trading locations the colonial coppers and other coins chucked like trash.(Is known, even in early publications). Scavaging they would leave them and take the important materials. They wanted Hyde, salt, material, blankets The little they "use",sure would not waste trade items on them when can get themselves or in trading with other tribes who did not even value it when was within they're range. Gold and Silver was still all over back then, did not even need to be mined in many locations. There were more important items they wanted, were not caring about soft metal to them they could get to easy. Way back trimming out a handle with silver or bracelet meant little when they were cold and hungry, that was a later thing.

Apparently in 1837 there was a banking system crisis. Many banks went under. The following from Wikipedia: "The Panic of 1837 was a financial crisis in the United States that touched off a major recession that lasted until the mid-1840s. Profits, prices and wages went down while unemployment went up. Pessimism abounded during the time. The panic had both domestic and foreign origins. Speculative lending practices in western states, a sharp decline in cotton prices, a collapsing land bubble, international specie flows, and restrictive lending policies in Great Britain were all to blame. On May 10, 1837, banks in New York City suspended specie payments, meaning that they would no longer redeem commercial paper in specie at full face value. Despite a brief recovery in 1838, the recession persisted for approximately seven years. Banks collapsed, businesses failed, prices declined, and thousands of workers lost their jobs." I suspect that what you found was either the private stash of an individual attempting to protect his money from going down with the local bank or a banker attempting to save some of a bank's specie (coin) from its depositors. Something must have happened to the person stowing the money otherwise he would have come back to retrieve it. Perhaps he was hung by his unhappy depositors. And it could have been the stash of a thief. All of this is speculation of course. Very interesting stuff.

Back in 2016 I was working night shift and one night on a day off, I was going down the rabbit hole of youtube videos and came across this one. Before this, I knew nothing about detecting. I like the way you do the videos and your approach as a fun loving serious hunter is clear and refreshing compared to other videos by other guys. I am still using a White Spectrum, pretty good machine, although 20 years old I guess. I appreciate how you never tell where you are when you find great stuff. Beau, I entertain myself while hubby watches ballgames, etc. watching metal detecting videos...I metal detect a bit. Can't swim and won't make it in a river...haaa but on land I love it. I really enjoy your videos and find myself watching them over and over. What do you think, or wish to think, the story is on all these coins? Do you think they were hidden to be later came back for, or simply lost during battle. So very interesting and I, too, think of the person/persons who had them and last held them. What a find. Congrats. Always waiting for a new vid to pop up of yours. God Bless

Holy Cow..!...those early American silver halves at that amount and condition is a coin collectors dream. They have to be pretty valuable and those big Spanish silvers just amazing.

I'm not so sure I'd put this on the Internet. Somehow, the existing landowner, the State tax board, the IRS, and John Smith's third ex wife will somehow try to claim all or part of it.

The coin that claims to be Brazilian, I believe it is actually Portuguese. In 1815 Brazil was still a Portuguese colony, so I believe that the coins that circulated in the country were from Portugal.
