@AntsCanada
@AntsCanada 7 лет назад
As an addition to this video, for those in Southeastern USA you can also find Trychomyrmex spp which are also fungus growers, and for those from Southern USA there is also the tiny Cyphomyrmex which are yeast-growers which collect insect frass (droppings) to farm their food! Good luck! Ant love forever!

My dad bought me an ant colony thugs to my thingy, you had to buy ants from the internet but me being 6, I decided I would collect them my self. I feel so bad now. I collected about 70 ants and put them in there, little did I know that they wouldn't live unless they have a queen, and they didn't. They all died within two weeks. Within the two weeks they made quite a lot before they all died 😭

Probably the first ants from this specie weren't exactly the same, they might of took hundreds of years to evolve to this, but that also means that they have always been close to leaves/farming its like a technology they learned and passed generations to generations and at last they cant live without it

Pedro is spot on, you can find out what species of ant your area has then find out when they are taking there nuptial flight and get a queen that way. There are also sites online that sell queens (on there own and with workers). You should totally check out my Facebook page called Ant Love Forever, it's a page for all things ants. You can share your ants and ask ant questions! Here is a link if you're interested - facebook.com/groups/892213097544952/

Le NAP you can either buy one from his shop (as long as they are nearby) or you could have a bit of fun and catch one that just landed after a nuptial flight.

Special Actinomyces spp. is the answer the the question. (And was something I didn't know at all about!) I love all the videos you've done and was inspired to get out there and start my own colonies! Currently I have a couple month old Camponotus Floridanus colony that I love. And an Odontomachus sp. colony as well who are a little picky but super cool. Your omni nest smalls are working very well and I appreciate everything you do for the community. Keep up the awesomeness! Ant love forever! :D

This ants remind me when there was a lot of dry leafs in the ground and we were abe to listen them cutting the leaves from a distance

1. He does *NOT* put them in packages look at GAN Global Ant Nursery 2.Buy your own if you can't afford a queen ant you can't afford to take care of them.

Actually, Leaf cutter ants are the best tho, even before you did this, Do not forget God of Heaven just by these!
@sunsetpark_fpv

It is absolutely AMAZING that the queen begins her nuptial flight with a "tiny fungal pellet" in her mouth, to feed her COLONY! Nature is such a beautiful thing.... "These leafcutter ants have a special mechanism to get rid of their fungus weeds" - they grind them up, roll them into a tubular shape, and communally puff on them until they're gone.... 😜

First, this ant lives in Japan and China too. Second, they are tough! Their body is so resistant and can survive almost anything nature can give them. Even being stomped! Actually, when i was a kid i got a few cuts on my hand from playing with the queens when the breeding season came and they start flying around in swarms. You could catch a dozen just by waving your hand. The queens are like bullets from the sky. Wherever they land they start digging, no waiting. The fun thing about those ants is that you can pick them up without killing or harming them in anyway, and without getting bites from them. Actually, if you apply too much force, you're the one getting hurt cuz they have thorny body
