Of all the mechanics videos I have watched over the years, this is the most clear. You are the first mechanic I have Subscribed to thanks to your clarity, quality, genuine humanity, and authenticity. Thank you.
Doubt after 7 years +, you're still doing followups BUT I'm having a problem where the leak is coming from the brake pin/caliper bolt seals. Even after replacing the caliper with an identical one. Very easy to understand video.
Hi mate, I think you should check your rear brakes as well but there is a little bit more complicated because of the hand brake mechanism. I would appreciate if you could do a video of rear brakes refurbishment, cheers ;)
Hey buddy, there were no leaks from the rear hence why I haven't changed them. The handbrake mechanism does make it slightly more tricky to remove but it isn't difficult. I shall look into buying a repair kit and make a video.
Thanks for the advice. I tried changing my 04 accord v6 rear caliper seal. But I couldn’t get a hold of seal for caliper. I just went to junkyard and took a caliper. Thanks
What did you use to bleed your brakes? Old fashioned 2 man job or have you got a specific tool. I find the Easy Bleed tools a bit hit and miss. I think I would like a pneumatic bleeder machine. Great video.
Hi, I have used the one man bleeder and the pneumatic one too but I prefer the old fashioned 2 man job as you mentioned. It's the method I find to be easiest and it means I have someone to talk to too 😊 Big thanks for your comment and support on the other video too. I really appreciate it.
Hey Paolo, yes I have considered Spoon calipers. I already have braided brake lines so I won't be changing that if I do. Would you like to see the Spoon calipers on the car?
I have a 97 f150 I had to open the brake line to Install brake pads because the bleeder is impossible to open. I've done it on the other side no issues the brake line where it connects to the caliper is leaking where the bolt screws in. I loosened and tightened it again but a small amount of fluid comes out when you press the brake pedal. What's going on? A 10 mile trip lost around 1/10 of the reservoir. I only cracked it to let excess fluid out to press piston back I did not completely remove it.
Many thanks for the comment and support 😊 I hope that this will never happen to you but if you do need to change it, it is fairly simple. Give me a message if you ever need any tips or advice.
I have a question man, my truck started leaking under my front right tire. I went on google and saw something about my break pads, i turned my truck over to my mechanic two days ago, he’s returning my truck saying it’s “bad pistons” I’m 18 and really have no clue on other than oil change etc (basic maintenance) what should I do ? Trust his word or tule someone else ?
Well it looks like a got the same problem I noticed my tire on both front sides were wet and after shutting car off and looking under I could see dripping so I guess I gotta fix the seals thanks for this vid.
i have change all the rubber sealing, but not the piston or cylinder, the piston have rust that eats the piston around it. and it still leaking. do i need to change the piston too?
had my bleed nipple pop out as soon as I parked up near my house, fluid pissing all over the road before I realised why my pedal/clutch went all funny! new caliper time, thank balls for mazda 3 cheapness, £50 for a brand new rear caliper and I was good to go, not a fan of brake failures ;)
the reason was that the caliper was replaced by someone (3/4 were rusty) as I've tried to bleed the system I realised that the nipple is not moving so I left it as It would not move.. come two hours later when I drove back home and the nipple popped out. Was holding on ONE cross threaded tread, crazy how "pro" mechanics end up doing something as stupid as crossthreading a nipple. New caliper time, was cheaper than re-drilling, did the work my self so it's all good now. I have proper trust issues now.
