At first glance, it looks very fantastic to have such games for the amusement of the public, but upon reflection, it's an incredible strike by the author of The Hunger Games (2012), as they precisely noticed what could empower the poor and entertain wealthy people. I'm just amazed; probably there already exists a similar attraction somewhere, hopefully not in our reality.

Horrible fact: In the books, the dogs(mutts) were created using the corpses of the eliminated tributes. Katniss notices the facial similarities between them when they were in the games and after they died.

They weren’t actually created out of the corpses of the dead tributes. They just gave them the same fur and eye colour to throw them off to make them think that, but they weren’t made out of the dead tributes themselves

I've said this in the past, but it's always true: Donald Sutherland makes a really good villain as President Snow. It's kind of the same paradox with Imelda Staunton/Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter: a delightful actor playing such a vile, despicable character.

This is such a great movie and such a wonderful performance. Alexander Ludwig (Kato) was phenominal in Vikings. There is a movie that I feel inspired this from Asia called Battle Royal which was about a class of school kids fitted with explosive collars, given weapons and told they have three days to kill each other.

In the book, Katniss did pull her hood over her head to protect herself from that trackerjacker nest. Of course, for the movie, they wanted to show Jennifer Lawrence's face. It always looked like Katniss only had about 3 or 4 arrows, but she never seemed to run out. I guess we're not supposed to think about that. The Hunger Game winners get to stay in one of the more luxurious houses in Victory Lane in their districts, along with getting more food and money.

The three-finger gesture is traditionally a way to say goodbye, including when someone has died, but it has evolved to also be like a salute: a show of respect. District 12 was saluting Katniss for her selfless act of volunteering to take her younger sister's place as the female tribute. I suppose they were also saying goodbye.

Watching the games is not only allowed in the district, it's mandatory. It's a way of pitting district against district so they don't turn against the Capitol. The fact that Katniss shows so much love and care towards someone from another district is what starts to make things chance. In the books, however, there isn't a revolt in Rue's district. Instead, they findrise money to send her bread in the games, something that it's really expensive, specially since District 11 is one of the poorest alongside 12.

That was actually Rebecca Romijn in X-Men. Jennifer Lawrence didn't come in to play the role of Mystique until later in the series. 😉

The highest possible score is 12, but Katniss got the highest score of all of the tributes this time of 11, since she had made the best impression.

I would not be a reader today if not for these books. I wish the movie was more violent like it was in the book, though. Like how Katniss killed Marvel and how Thresh killed Clove. One scene from the book I really wished they put int this movie was when Katniss watches the other reapings on the train. Cato volunteering. Foxface's and Rue being reaped. I was totally picturing Lady Gaga as Effie Trinket, too, lol

Just the opposite. His mother hit him for burning the bread so they had to feed it to pigs. He chose to throw one to her. The D12 people never get bread.

Just a small thing, I know you probably meant this but I’m just clarifying! Peeta burnt the bread on purpose knowing he’d get a beating off of his abusive mother so that his mother will tell him to feed it to the pigs and then he threw her the bread when his mother wasn’t looking. So rather than just choosing to throw one to her, he did it deliberately so he could give the bread to her

The authoritarians in the Capitol, led by the dictator "President" Snow, want the people in the districts to watch The Hunger Games, to remind them of how helpless they are, and that there is nothing they can do about this injustice. But of course there has always been the danger that it might spark a revolution, especially when combined with an inspirational person like Katniss.

I do not like how Katie’s just started cheating on her boyfriend that fast with a dude she just met when she got there. Her boyfriend had been with through the bull crap back and just did him dirty. Peta may have been longing her for awhile but she didn’t actually know until she got there.
