Four can't kill innocent people when he's looking at them, he has to look away to kill them, it's the same with the one he loves, Beatrix/Trix, he had to look away to kill her, and she knew that, so she forced him to look at her, which snapped him out of the mind-control/dream-world-simulation drug, back to his normal senses/self
Read the books, and I gotta say I love the whole Divergent series and the story it tells. I’m not the biggest fan of the movies, but for what it is, it is still a really good film and covers the books fairly well

@@spider-jeff_101 not surprising, when it’s competing with Hunger Games and Maze Runner, it doesn’t really have a good backing. I feel like they could’ve done a lot with the franchise, maybe a tv show or spin-off movies about different people and their backstories. Sucks to see it bombed though
I love the Divergent series. Your reaction was so funny. I hate that people hear the term “the 5 factions” and think “oh it’s like hunger games” there are no similarities story wise.

@@ianbyt An electric fence… Yes I forgot Hunger Games was all about a fence and not at all about the competition. No they just ignored the killing. Even if they also had a fence you’re seeing it wrong. In Hunger Games the fence was between the groups of people. Maybe to keep them separate? Idk, I didn’t like HG. In Divergent the fence is around the entire community and there because there was a war. This is to keep them safe from outside the wall. So different reasons. If you think them having a fence makes them similar that’s like saying every lawyer serves the same purpose.
It has its flaws, but there’s a lot to think about. I mean apart from Four’s everything. 😉 Frankly, I find it a more thought provoking and better portrayal of societal oppression than Hunger Games, though much simpler. The world in Hunger Games (movies, I’ll specify) is more “complex,” but the choices and characters in this are more difficult and true to life, in SPITE of the seemingly alternate universe / genetically engineered aspect of the factions.
8:42- Of course, their kids are leaving home. If I were a parent and my children were 18 and left home, I'd be sad too, but according to Janine feeling sympathy for human nature is weak. She doesn't want them to feel anything. That everyone should be emotionless robots. Janine even thinks people are safer to not feel which is completely false. 12:21- So being honest is bitchy. Whatever.🙄 16:26- Well, Tris was raised in a pacifist faction. So violence is new for her and intimacy is also another fear she has too which I can relate to. 37:52- That's pretty common for people to fear sexual assault even though it technically never happened. It's a subconscious fear that sits in the back of the mind lingering at that horrible possibility. I definitely fear that and yet I've never been assaulted at all. Tris does fear intimacy too which is similar to me, it's like fear of intimacy elevates when Tris and Four kissed for the first time.
I never decide if I'm going to watch something based on ratings. I will give it a fair shot, and I've found I thoroughly enjoyed movies that had terrible ratings. It's all a matter of taste. If it sounds interesting to you, watch it.
the movies are good but i think people that read the books felt like it just didnt compare to the books at least 2 and 3 but i loved all of them tbh (sad they didnt make a 4 one but tris would have died sooooo...)

I watched this movie in theaters because our class read the book. We were gonna watch the Maze Runner after we read the book but that movie got delayed to September 2014, I would've been in grade 9😢.
Divergent is pretty good! Cannot say the same for the 2nd and 3rd movies tho (insurgent and allegiant). Someone correct me if i’m wrong but i’m pretty sure the third movie was so bad they cancelled the fourth
don’t feel any pressure to watch the rest of the series. The first movie is pretty fun but nothing all that special, however the following two are just trash that get worse and worse as they go on. The books are the same, so at least it was accurate lmao. edit: dauntless aren’t the most free, they actually have some of the strictest training/rules out of the factions because they’re the protectors. Amity (the hippie farmers) are the most free. They live outside the wall, just chilling and farming and hanging out and living a chill life. If you do see the second movie you’ll see amity and how much nicer their lives are than the other factions. They’re much less scrutinized than the other factions who reside within the wall. Also the city this is set in is chicago in the post-apocalyptic future. edit 2: yes four is divergent, that’s how he was immune to the serum and how he knew how to coach her in pretending to be dauntless. The mom changed factions the same way tris did. She grew up in dauntless and when she was old enough to make the decision of which faction to live in she chose abnegation.
If I had chance for a faction could be dauntless cuz u learn traits like combat and stuff or the farmers who farm and your also outside the walls all more freedom if u become factionless in both you got skills of either soo u can try and survive
The issue is not that the movies are all bad is that the source material for the movies was based on a book series that completely lost its plot The first book really good second book a little more iffy third book makes you hate the whole franchise it’s just a waste of what could’ve been a good story
As a fan of the trilogy (both movie and book) I can say they're okay films. In comparison to many other films that have a similar vibe are were released around the same time they don't stand up quite as well. With that being said, I think they're a fun watch, not exactly what you would call a masterpiece but still decent. Excited to see your reaction.
Great reaction! Yeah, just make me factionless lol. I enjoyed the second one and recommend it. Haven’t seen the third one. I think it’s “bad” if you never buy the premise or think the characters are all telling the truth or telling the audience what to think lol. Still not over someone saying this movie shamed unhoused people. Because a dystopian society taught people it was bad to be factionless. What?! Not perfect or for everyone, but dismissed by too many who missed the point IMO.

Divergent is my favorite of the YA dystopians. But just the first movie. 😂 I like the second, not a big fan of the third. Besides the first, Maze Runner and Hunger Games are the best.
I say this as someone who's read all the books and watched all the movies for those 3 series, I enjoyed Divergent very much as a teen but it's 100% the weakest 😂
Divergent is trash but I'll watch the vid just for you. Often times movies and series can be fkin like a 9 and be rated 5 or 6 on shit so you shouldn't always judge by those ratings but in divergent's case it's spot on.
