Another one of the great R&B soul groups from the 60's. Their biggest hits were in the 70's with "In the Rain", "Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get", "Hey You! Get Off My Mountain", "Be My Girl", "Shake It Well" etc. They also did a collaboration with Snoop Dogg in 1993 called "Doggy Dogg World".
My favorite songs by The Dramatics, Be My Girl written by Michael Henderson and Go Outside In The Rain. The Dramatics are so underrated, they're R & B royalty like The Temptations and The Ojays
That was brilliant! If you loved this and the Temptations, then you should no longer delay in reacting to the O'Jays 'Backstabbers'. Three minutes of drama, social messaging and soul rolled into one unforgettable tune. Philly Soul has to be your next stop.
The Midnight Special was the only show that wasn’t lip synced back then. There’s a ton of great songs both black and white also Native American! The Stylistics, Chi-Lites…
And you’ll notice in all the Midnight Special performances the sound sucks except for a few exceptions. Television didn’t have the technology for good musical sound quality back then. I for one am glad reactors hear the same version we all listened to and loved.
Their next record was even a bigger hit "In The Rain" they were a Detroit group but Motown had moved to LA.Recorded & Produced in Detroit but records released on the Memphis label Stax-Volt Records
First, let me say you guys are my favorite reactors. The love you have for each other shines through. There were so many groups back in the 70s that could flat-out harmonize: The Stylistics ("Stone In Love With You," You Make Me Feel Brand New")... the mighty O'Jays ("Forever Mine," "Used To Be My Girl," "Backstabbers"); LTD with "Back In Love Again" is a banger. Brothers Johnson ("Strawberry Letter 22," "I'll Be Good To You," ... and especially for Shawn, the Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose "Treat Her Right."
I remember when this song first hit the radio...It immediately became my favorite song. Their voices & harmony was the best. Each one is Amazing & soulful. Thank you for reacting to this TIMELESS Classic!!
I love this time period, there was nothing like the 70's, there was so much talent. Other generations have no idea what they missed, was a special time. ENJOY and keep great music alive.
That RIGHT! School Is in session! They mighty Dramatics!! NO AUTO TUNE. JUST PURE SOUL SINGERS!!! RIP RON BANKS, WeeGee HOWARD, WILLIE FORD LENNY MAYES,
Shawn and Mel I’m 63 and I watched Soul Train faithfully the men and women of that era have and always will bring true class and extreme talent those days were the best, love you both ❤
This was the stuff for real. Loving this ❤️❤️🔥brings back so many memories. I even remember all the lyrics. Thank You for another wonderful one. 🙏🏼🙏🏽🙏🏾
S&L? Incredible song that I loved literally the first time I heard it, which was when it came out. (early 70's) A locker room favorite in football during that time. Love the five different vocalists that ALL get to shine on this one. A keeper ! Great selection to react to.
Detroit's own "The Dramatics" Ron Bank with soft voice in green,William "Wee Gee' Howard in orange,Larry "Squirrel"Demps in purple,Wiilie Ford in blue,Elbert Wilkins in white.
How can an R&B group from 52 years ago still sound so good? I was 20 when this song was a hit and I'm still grooving in my chair watching you two enjoyng this powerful group.
One of my theme songs.. I still jam this a lot preceded by The Undisputed Truth - “Smiling Faces” with the OJAYS - “Backstabbers before that.. and usually following this I’ll slide in some William DeVaughn - “Be Thankful for Whatcha Got”.. Check em out if get around to it, similar style and groove, solid soulful hits! 😉
This was one of my favorite songs when I was a 9 year old kid. African American male singing groups of that era had such extraordinarily rich texture and harmony and an ecstatic quality to their vocalizations, to me that is the greatest singing I've ever heard, even greater than the best operatic singing or my own Italian love songs or even Neapolitan style (well, they're both right up there - primo a primo - best of the best!). It's such a shame that that has been lost to rapping or vocal styling through a voice synthesizer - which is a tremendous loss of soul and singing virtuosity, but the culture's gone shallow, and the machine has taken over where soul once ruled. Such a pity. The back and forth between bass and tenor/falsetto would lead to a rapturous explosion at the song's high point, you would just want to explode right along with it, like a supernova!
I’ve only checked out a few of your reaction videos just recently. Yo, I love you guys! Your chemistry is unmatched!! Looking forward to checking out more of your videos.
My all time favorite group from back in the day! Most talented group of guys I've ever seen. In my opinion, no one can come close to the energy they have...great stage performance! 🤗🙂
I remember watching Soul Train on Saturday mornings which was a treat to see someone that looked like me on tv. On another note listening to your reaction of how The Dramatics move and sing well while dancing and singing on Soul Train... I've come to learn that these groups were actually lip syncing to their songs on Soul Train.
Back then you had to be on your best and bring your A game! Those were real singers real musicians no studio computer music no voice enhancement auto tune this is when guys sang to their women they didn't call them bitches and hoes back then these guys were real men who sung great music this music now some of it won't even comment on!
All groups back in the days especially doing that era when they came to the stage they all had a dance that they did to come to the mics look at The O'Jays
I have to say, I feel very fortunate have grown up to this music 🎶 🎵 as a Hispanic man. I grew up listening to this type of music with my older sister & mom watching Soul Train every Saturday Dancing to this music! Glad u younger people enjoy it! This type of music makes u feel good & on a different vibration altogether, feeds the Soul ❤❤❤🙏😊
Now you guys are doing it. Dramatics! another musical rabbit hole. The brother with the high voice in the green is Ron Banks who was the leader of The Dramatics. Later a brother named L.J. Reynolds joined the group and took over lead vocals and man that brother can blow. Check out songs like their live version of Me and Mrs Jones, Be my girl, Toast to the Fool, and many more jams
You two are my favorite old school music reactors. I remember running to my tv Saturday mornings to catch all the great performances on Soul Train. The Dramatics also have a great version of Me and Mrs.Jones, maybe if you have time you could do that one for us. Thanks again
That was when it went nation wide soul train started in Chicago in 1969 on channel 26 and depending on which channel that had CBS when it went nation wide in 1971 in Chicago it was channel 2 and later on channel 9 after it left CBS
Oh that was such a good pic! Goodness I enjoyed that so much. I haven't heard that song in years. You can't go wrong with Soul Train. Their dancing was sooo slick. They were real entertainers thats for sure. I loved the guy in the blue with his deep deep voice. Their harmonies were so effortless and cool. Made me want to get up and dance! Have a nice evening you two and thanks for the wonderful videos today, it was real fun. :)
After this song came out the group broke up and that's what you know a man to date with LJ Reynolds a singing that guy's lead to the dramatic that you really know of today
There was a male SINGING group from the Baltimore.... D.C. area.....back in the day late 1960s or early 1970s... they called themselves....Skip Mahoney and The Casuals....."WHERE EVER YOU GO" it's a beautiful ballad
Yeah there was a soul music radio show here in Boston back in the '80s called the Sugar shack the host name was Jimmy Botticelli and this is the song he would play at the end of the every show. They also had another good song called your funny moods 😀
Great song that you guys reacted to, so much good music from that era. Here are a few i'm sure you guys will give a positive reaction to. " Maybe It's Because You're Lonely" by the Stylistics " Bring Back My Yesterday " and " I'm So Blue" by The Maestro, Barry White, backed up by both his Love Unlimited Orchestra and his backup female group, Love Unlimited. Just superb music. Keep up the reaction vids guys, you guys are great.

The term WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET is from the old Flip Wilson show.. it became a slogan in the hood in the early 70s😎 OH DO THEIR SONG IN THE RAIN!!! My big sister played it over and over and over….
My favorite group of all time. Ron Banks, the 1 wearing the green suit, is the founder. L.J. Reynolds, replaced the 1 in the orange suit, named, Willie “WeeGee” Howard
