Speaking of waste… I would cut the middle out of that gold paper layer. Cut it frame style with a layer of white paper at the same time. Then replace the middle of the gold paper with the white inner fame. Voila, a second smaller piece of gold to use on another card. Yes takes a moment but so does earning money to pay for gold paper.
This is the first time I’ve seen any of your videos Jill and it’s such a revelation seeing that you can now be so precise in embossing intricate parts of any papers ..fantastic !

I will have to say I didn’t read the title and was “blown away “ with using the gel pen to emboss!!🤩 It’s a classy card that you took to the next level!! You are so kind to make certain credit is given for the person who you saw using the gel pen for name. You certainly did a completely different technique that was original to YOU!! I’m a newbie too Nancy, and at 66! Ha! Just goes to show you we “Queenagers” still want to learn and create! Love these ideas and will get a few gel pens to make this process so much easier. 35 years ago, I used ball point pens then heat embossed with embossing powder. (This was before I had ever heard of gel pens - don't know if they existed then, but ball point pens worked beautifully!) Love your card!
Haha I used my neighbor's Paint stripping Heat gun 😳 careful of burnt fingers lol, until I figured out I had a Hotfix Gem pen with multi attachments that gives me precise precision on the back of my cards 👌 it works a treat too....with no blow off mess lol
@@mandymcclay Have never heard of this Hotfix Gem pen so I looked it up! It's for applying rhinestones, right? So what do you do to the back of your cards with it?
Hi, I love your idea of placing a sample of the embossing powder on the lid of your embossing powder container. Gonna steal that idea, it's cute and practical!😊
Brilliant! Something I learned from my friend. Wrap a clipboard with some foil and use that for heat embossing. Use the clip to hold your piece and the foil increases the heat for faster embossing.

Wow, that’s cool! Wanted to share that Bethany of @Bethadilly shared a tip someone else suggested to her: using a clothespin to hold your paper while using the heatgun to protect your fingers.
Been doing this for a long time. Was wondering why it wasn't a video. You can use any ball point pen. You can use colored ink pens like ink joy and clear embossing powder. You can make any sentiment you want if you can write half descent or use letter stencils. I often print them and just go over them with a pen and emboss them. Even people's names.

Progesterone idea you could always use Simon Says solar paste around the edge of a card which is be a lot cheaper than you shouldn't of specialty gold card. You could also use gilding Flakes and use it only on the edge of or border of your cars that you stack together. That would also make your cost of your supplies be a lot left. Just a thought

also if you hold the heat gun under the cardstock the embossing powders don't bubble/marble so much, they melt flatter and smoother, to be fair I suppose it will depend on Brands and expense Mine are sooo cheap, but have had great results doing this 👌😁

I want to get back to do crafts, scrapbooking, and learn card making. Gave it all up tending to my elderly parents in my home. Both have passed but a year ago lost my sister and husband during Christmas took all of 2022 to recover somewhat. Have a lot of catching up on your channel. 🤩🤩🤩

I do have a Versamark pen to do this, but the cost is one consideration plus the availability of gel pens so I will be having fun with this technique. I just found gel pens on Amazon….I can’t remember if they even have a brand name. They were not expensive. Try eBay, Amazon or your local $2 shop or stationery store…I hope that helps….thanks for watching💕
You can even use water. Anything that will hold the plastic powder(embossing powder) to the paper or whatever you are embossing. Sometimes you need to heat underneath at first till it starts to stick. Bought my first powders in 1985 and still have some which are still good and we use to melt in the toaster oven. 💜 you can use any ink but pigment inks don’t dry as fast as dye inks.
Hi Jo, the measurements would be…..Gold panel, 2 3/4 inches by 4…Black Panel, 2 1/2 by 3 3/4 inches…DSP panel, 2 1/4 by 3 1/2 inches. For a card 5 1/2 by 4 1/4 inches….
Thanks for sharing. I just bought the embossing gun and powder but I don’t have the cloth you used, do I have to buy the cloth in order to emboss. I thought I had everything I needed. Please let me know where I can get the cloth you’re talking about. Pat in North Carolina
The embossing buddy is like a little pillow, filled with some anti-static powder. It stops the embossing powder from sticking to your fingerprints, and anywhere else on the paper you don't want the powder to stick. Stampin' Up! sell a great set called the Embossing Additions Tool Kit, you would need to contact a demostrator in your country. In a pinch, you could try swiping over with talcum powder??? I can't guarantee the results there💕
Thanks Shirley, they are basically just know as gel pens. I got some on Amazon, not a particular brand, but our $2 shops generally have them. Google Gel Pens.💞💞
Great technique, Thank you for sharing. I also thought that with the gel pen working like this, it could be adapted to fill in missed embossing. Nothing worse than stamping and embossing an item and realising that some of it is missing. I am also in Sydney and I am curious to if you hold classes? Thanks again. 💜
