FPV rover update; I reprinted all the wheels because I wanted to match the battery mounts. I wrote this calibration firmware to help me tune each motor. It’s ramping each individual motor up to max speed, holding and then reversing after applying the brake. The motors now all have the same max rpm in all directions. Hiro seems to be getting use to all the noise 😂

Hi! I just found your video and I am really interested in the mecanum wheels you have designed and built for the hoverboard motors. I want to replicate you setup but instead of buying existing wheels just for the rollers, I want to take a stab at 3d printing the rollers. Would you mind sharing the original designs of the wheels so I can make the necessary changes? If all works out, I will of course post back to the community.

Do you have info available of how the Makita Batteries has been connected to the system? Trying to figure out how to make a Omni wheel base to transport a battery powered 3D printer. I guess simple buck converters could work but this RC world is so new so I wonder if there are already solutions available. Love you videos :)

The links for the motor drivers doesn't seem right. It's for a brushed DC motor, not BLDC.

@@ProtoG42 something doesn't add up. Maybe you are having something cached so it shows you somethy different. The link brings me to a puny DC motor regulator, not for brushless motor.

I plan on driving it around with a headset although I will probably try to ride it. Those small rollers might not support my weight but I'll do some weight tests with it.

@@ProtoG42 Considering that the "hoverboards" carry a human bean on only two wheels, the power should not be lacking. Is it that the rollers are 3D printed? How about replacing them with cast polyurethane? I'd love to have a wired (controlled) human capable base from which to expand.

Is that the Taranis X9D Plus I see sitting on the bench? Or is that the access? Looks like you have been in RC for at least a few years, I dont think FrSky sells the plus anymore. I still love mine though.

So I checked out for a bit. Saw the thumbnails was looking forward to whatever you were making. This is amazing. At first I thought you were making a OneWheel but out of omni wheels. This powered board looks awesome thought. When's the road test?

Not sure yet, I still have a lot of wiring and programming to do as this was just testing the max rpm of each motor in both directions for calibration purposes.

There's only one digital oscilloscope shown in the video. I have several old analog scopes on the top shelf that you can't see in the video. My spectrum analyzer and waveform generator are next to my Rigol oscilloscope.

Can anyone tell me the technical term for the shape of the rollers/waltzes the wheels consist of? Is it "barrell shaped"? I try to get them to build bigger mecanum wheels and cannot look them up. Has anyone a source for those?

I've been looking myself. I don't think there are many sources of just the rollers. Most rollers which come with Mecanum wheels don't appear to be the exact correct shape. The shape of the wheel is the edge of a stretched circle. If the entire shape were drawn, it would be an ellipse 1.414 times wider than it is high. How big of a Mecanum wheel do you want? I want to make an electric skateboard with Mecanum wheels. I may end up making my own but I decided to purchase a set from AliExpress to see if they would work. I'll post a separate reply with a link in case the links aren't allowed so this entire reply isn't lost.

@@ddegn Thank you for looking and the information about the exact size. I want to build a pedal powered vehicle for a special use. I would like to use ten inch wheels but they are unnecessarily strong and expensive. The websitts are not very user-friendly to find the correct price.

Finding stuff on AliExpress can be a real pain. Someone else on RU-vid shared a link to similar wheels which provided me with the correct search terms to the ones I ordered. I might end up needing to make my own. I've been watching DIY skateboard wheel videos to learn how to mold polyurethane. I'm thinking the rollers could be kind of like small skateboard wheels. The shaped can be figured out mathematically. I like to think I'll be able to design the general shape without too much trouble. I'm concerned about how much the urethane will compress and how bumpy the ride will be. "I want to build a pedal powered vehicle for a special use." I think a pedal powered Mecanum wheeled device would be very very hard to make. In order to take advantage of the Mecanum wheel's movement, you really need to control the speed of each of the four wheels independently. If I had to make a pedal powered Mecanum wheeled vehicle, I'd use the pedals to generate electricity and then route the electricity to four motors. Make sure you understand how Mecanum wheels work before trying to make a large vehicle. You can purchase relatively inexpensive Mecanum wheeled toys and use these as a base to learn how to control the wheels. Vex makes some really nice Mecanum wheels. I used Vex wheels with a Rover 5 chassis to make a Mecanum wheeled robot. There are videos of this robot on my channel. I'll add a separate reply with a link to my Hackday IO project where I describe how I made this robot. If you follow my Hackaday IO account, you'll see when I eventually post information about my Mecanum wheeled electric skateboard.

@@freddotu I wouldn’t judge that based on the only review it has on Amazon. I didn’t have problems with mine at all. You can see a short video of it I made last month. It’s impressively fast and it is what gave me the inspiration to make a large version.
