New OMNIUM GATHERUM single 'Skyline' now available on iTunes: smarturl.it/og_skyline New album out February 2016 Recorded by Teemu Aalto, Mixed and Mastered by Dan Swanö. www.omniumgatherum.org www.lifeforcerecords.com
i've started listening to melodic death metal much more recently, because i get to have brutal vocals, lyrics that aren't vicious like most death metal, and the music itself is enjoyable like your hard rock and heavy metal, yet much more hardcore.
Flare around the head Or a part of the dead A living seeing being Full of variety Heard the news to day No more excuses No path or a way No futile words to say Like a vision Burns the skyline No smoke no flames In the skyline Part of the shadow Love is with dear light Then they cease to be And one is free
Nice to see that OmG are staying true to their roots. We don't need pop rock like In Flames make now a days, we need more of the same so that we can collect and save all these epic songs.
+Rekumalacono while i agree with the fact that Omnium were/are/and will stay true to their roots, i can't deny it does sound like Only for the Weak during the verses.
I believe no one's noticed that the main "chug" riff is borrowed from Amon Amarth's Victorius March. No matter, because both songs rule! Awesome keyboard part, too.
Really slow song, but still very Omnium Gatherum. Love it! Had no idea they had a new album in the works and found out in the middle of night at work! :D
OG is the only MDM band that keeps moving forward in such a narrow genre without trading off. Great. Great guys! Keep it up! Cant wait till the new record and european tour!
Wait what? How? I was listening to this to try to determine if I wanna get the album but like... you're saying the album version is different from this??? Because I'm not digging this. But the opening song RIPS SO HARD. Might be the heaviest track I've heard from them so far.
+Morfeus Dan Swanö don't make sound from thin air. As I know he mastered this song (and perhaps the album). Don't know about the mixing (doupt it as it's more beneficial to do it in Finland or some other studio. But anyway. The sound is from the band. And I don's deny it sounds a bit In Flames. Although that is a praise (as old In Flames).
This track is out of this world. Everyone compares it to "Only for the Weak" by In Flames but it's way better than this latter. The atmosphere and the refrain are sublimely melancholic. Btw the "Only for the Weak" title would have perfectly fitted on this track instead of the In Flames' one.
+Lorcan Ward Well, it won't be released until next year, so that doesn't count ;) The new Amorphis and Soilwork albums are well worth listening to though!
Decent melo-death track, but doesn't have the same epic and progressive sound that songs on their past two albums had e.g. "Luoto", "Formiddable", "White Palace", "Everfields", "Deep Cold". Hopefully other tracks on the album have this sound, as I feel these aspects (also the use of reverb guitar) set Omnium Gatherum apart from the multitude of other melo-death bands
Yeah, after a masterpiece Beyond album that had wonderful majestic stellar guitar-leads and the flight of thoughts, structures we got a new OG song: a friggin one-fifth quinte primitive most generic riff and 'happy groove" lead melody! Great fucken job, OG!
+MrSatanislav We need some songs like that as well. I simply loved the last two albums, they are special to me. But let's not be hasty, I kinda like this one but I do hope the rest of the album is more in the alley of the last two albums. This one would be great at concerts imo.
Repeating a few riff are boring, they take a sweet riff and repeating it over and over again, and yes i agree with Winterwolf Panzerkampf it's so much like "Only For The Weak"!
