This is horrifying when you know the context of the Hikkomori route, Sunny is not fighting his fears at all, he's only pretending to do so in his imaginary world with the help of friends that no longer exist, in his mind, the only way to face your fears is to literally defeat them like you'd do in a videogame, and with that, his own real world self only goes depper into the abyss. Meanwhile, in the real world, Sunny has been in his room this whole time for 3 days, only to occasionally leave to eat or go to the bathroom, imagining things that never happened, pretending that they are real, his delusion is only gaining ground as time passes, after all, he's in white space. He's lived there for as long as he can remember. He will live there for as long as he will remember.
In the water, instead of getting out of something pulling you down, each turn you get further pulled into the darkness, opposite of the Normal route. It’s basically proving that Sunny isn’t actually facing his fears…
@EL AUTENTICO he fought the irrational side of it, the side tied to Mari. He has now a rational fear of drowning. While in the hikkomori route, he loses his memories and the rational parts of his fears too. That's what I mean
It’s kinda weird considering he is sunny right but he is the only one in the head space who can’t feel fear but in the real world he is the only one who can get stressed out
1:40 I could just hear Merg going “Ok, so Omori, you’ll stare, Aubrey, you just headbutt again, Kel, you’ll run and gun, and Hero... Hero, you’ll just attack.”
Gaining Vertigo, the reaction that causes nausea when heights, to the manifestation of acrophobia, gaining Cripple, being unable to move because something is hindering your movement, to the manifestation of arachnophobia, and gaining Suffocate, what happens when your air supply is cut off, to the manifestation of thalassophobia is at the same time well-thought, a bit funny, and incredibly terrifying.
Release energy attack scales pretty poorly huh, only 1k damage, late game skills deal just as much, if not more But then again, it doesn't consume juice, so might as well
Release energy always does a fixed amount of damage depending on where you are in the game, so by the time you can do more than 1k is not terribly useful. But I use it cause I like the animation
one thing i never see mentioned is that when performing moving attack damage (i.e. anger attacking sadness), it’ll become 1500 damage from its usual 1000, but thats about it
OMORI is literally weaponizing SUNNY's fears (VERTIGO, CRIPPLE and SUFFOCATE) and uses them for his own good... That's not how you overcome a fear, it feels more like you use it as an excuse or to get what you want.
I love how blasting an airhorn is enough to make everyone stop being afraid. Like forget the eldritch horror at the bottom of the stairs, that thing's too loud and I'm mad.
I remember struggling with talassaphonia on my first playthrough because i was heavily underleved (like level 35) and on my second hikikomori playthrough i defeated every boss first try (and also because i remembered that i could've used toys to change emotions)🗿
I love how good the drowning one gets across that fear, the fact that you're getting increasingly bigger and bigger damage every turn constantly feels like you're running out of time, and it gets so intense that even a whole pizza alone doesn't keep your party afloat. My first attempt had me _barely_ surviving with a solo omori with very low health, it was probably the most scary of the 3 to have to fight.
i thought this was gonna be a video on the scenes leading up to the fears. As in this route the thalassophobia occurs inside a bathtub instead of a lake.
how did i get in here on my first playthrough during the normal route i remember after beating sweetheart for the first time i literally went in here saw the piano turned around and thought "that looks too scary im gonna go right instead"
If omori knew calm down, focus, and persist, this would get Q U I C K, but also, it would make the final bossfight l o n g e r and h a r d e r so yeah.
The fact that you sink further into the water while fighting Something in the Water instead of going towards the surface like on the Sunny route is such a great detail.
Is there a way to avoid these bosses? I would prefer to get the good ending and cry my eyeballs out with tears of joy instead of getting the bad ending and crying my eye balls out with tears of sadness.
I get this is a horror game and I get that the creepy designs are intentional but the more I look at something in the walls(spider) and something in the dark(fear of heights) the more spiders and the dark scare me more
Late reply but you need all three pieces of sheet music from deeper well, just finding one allows you to fight acrophobia, but not the other two. You might have found out about this already idk but yeah

I don't know why when Hero's afraid his icon turns into black, and he's like trying to contain his horror at those things. But don't the part of his icon being black. Can someone explain me that?
Thalassaphobia is the second hardest boss in the game. Change my mind. 3 attacks in one turn, at least 2 of which do Party-wide damage with a guaranteed 50/100/150 damage per turn, also constantly lowering your Speed so Run 'n' Gun/Vertigo starts are useless.
Need help. When I tried to get to the boss there was only some text that said “This wall feels unusually hollow” or something along those lines. Anyone know what to do (I’m on hikki route). There also isn’t the light. Am I missing something youtube?
@@FreakyVic. you’re welcome! That’s just my suggestion. There are a a lot of people better than me that would disagree. But I 100% the game using these levels so it at least works :) Good luck!!
