I was looking at the something sprites (the Somethings that resemble Mari's hair and has one eye), and I noticed that if you look at it in a certain way, you see a friendlier looking Hellmari. Dunno, just something I noticed.
@@sandromaspindzelashvili5767 because you need 99 Black Space keys to access the area, which is impossible since there are only 26 letters in the alphabet.
I have a feeling Omocat left these out because its actually meant to be fixed and recoded in the game by the players themselves. Black space 1 is kinda straightforward because you come across it inevitably, black space 2 requires diving deeper into the game with strange doors and entrances into the rooms. And at last there's black space 3, the memories are so supressed that you (the player) will need to reassamble the entire unused yourself if you ever want to see what's in it. Gg Omocat
That could be kind of a cool concept for a game actually. Having the players datamine the game to reach the good ending. Dunno if it would work commercially, though. Could turn players away, or perhaps the novelty could draw players in.
@@noux oneshot does stuff like this, theres a whole nother route where you have to delete your old saves and go through files just to get the good route i believe (?) super cool game, i dont think its datamining tho but you still need to modify and delete files or whatever to keep progressing.

Mari saying "I can't lose you again" gave me chills. What could she be referring to? Feels like it's related to the lake but she saved him, never really lost him? Maybe just the fear of losing him again? She started bawling her eyes out after she saved him in the lake after all.
I think it's related to what happened before, iirc everytime Sunny gets too close to the truth Omori pushes him out of Headspace and when it happens the characters act all worried once you enter Headspace again. I believe she's referencing some of those times Omori suddenly disappears and fears it'll happen again
the haunted house event looks like it was supposed to be the original way to get out of headspace after giving farewell to a friendly, hungry whale, especially since it gives you an option to do so anyway after HS Mari decides "nah, none of that" given its rather noisy for a scene, with too many parts that it becomes distracting, I think they opted to reduce the player choice so going there seems like the obvious last thing to do and not clutter it up with "yeah, lets go back" several times. thematically, it would make sense to have everyone try keep you in headspace, even player choice, but having it be a last stop was definitely cleaner in execution.
I did that last night. I was just about to go to sleep at 1:15 AM, saw this video and thought "I'll click on it so it's there for me to watch tomorrow" and I was immediately met with the horrorfying Omori mirror face. Sleeping was not obtained.
@@noux Yeah, I see that. Although HellSunny has that awful music that creeps me out and from what I can see, you can't back out of it like the mirrors with Devil Sunny?

@@Lazulite Imagine if you close the game and it just soft-locks you in the room again and again, not allowing you to get out until you get the right combination on the face.
I'm a little annoyed that they cut the segment with Mari leading them to the empty house. I found it masterful and I think it would have really contributed to the ambiance and context in this part of the game.
The first, ahem, "Missing Basil Frame" is actually used, you have to fall through the hole that appears below the letter "O" at the ghost party, then play the tape labelled, "BASIL"
Isn't the unused redspace in the game? Or is it something super similar to that scene? I specifically remember that part in game when I was doing the true route.
It's so miserable seeing them call Basil's home a haunted house. Even if it's only in Sunny's mind, everyone forgetting about headspace Basil is just so sad.
That first scare.....You know how to freak me out. It's so simple yet so disturbing. I prefer silent scares or those that aren't like screams, just ominous audio and simple movements.
@@noux That's what makes this game so special and genuienly scary to me. It's not some cheap jumpscare like other games, but a well thought out way to keep the memeories of the scares in the back of one's head and suddendly remember and connect things together
@@inavela1267 Could not have put it better myself. I came to Omori for the memes, ended up loving the game and all that it stands for. Simple, but brilliant. There are quite a bit of problems, for sure, but my subjective opinion doesn’t mind that.

It's just mildly unnerving A drained face or a corpse that looks similar to Mari or Sunny, with what seem to be reflective eyes just moving around. It's gives me cheap Halloween head vibes
Ahahaha, I feel ya on that, my friend. There’s just something about that music combined with that atmosphere that makes me want to puke at just the mere sight of it.
It's the same thing that plays in the title screen if you save and exit the game after arriving in Black Space, but before going to the Church of Something (aka the red door). It's also played in the Red Hand Room, but there's a screeching in the background added to it.
@@Dhalin True, the music itself was used in a lot of nerve-wrecking moments. Makes it all the more terrifying, then. Every time you hear it, you’ll always be conditioned to feel unnerved and ‘em jitters.
1:37 It only just occured to me that the Headspace group live in a tree stump in the forest. You know where else a tree stump is seen? Yep, they litterally live where Mari was hung.
the haunted house sequence where they start disappearing in the fog is kind of parallel to what happened to them in the real world. It’s like the forest and the fog is a symbolism of them going through a depressing time after Mari died. They were all “lost” and “scared” and they began to lose each other one by one before even reaching to the haunted house - the truth, and the truth is *scary* Hero “left” first (going to college among other things), then Kel was left alone hurt, worried and confused bc of it. When Kel “disappeared,” Aubrey said “the forest was lot less scary when there were more of us” because having someone to go through grief with is a lot less scary than dealing it alone, but now their friends have gone off on their own, leaving Aubrey too. And when Aubrey left as well, it was just Sunny and Mari’s presence now. If you read the dialogues with the context in mind, it’s really…sad. But anyways, i’m reading too much into stuff, this is just my interpretation
9:30 omori was about to fall into the pit, and Mari saves him. I'm not sure, but maybe that's also symbolic of something. Like he was about to let himself fall into the pit of self-loathing and depression once he finds out the truth (AKA going into the house) and the memory of Mari saves him.
I think what’s interesting is Mari saying “I can’t lose you again” after stopping omori from jumping. That implies she’s lost him before, but when? I don’t think it’s the lake
Apparently Headspace Mari protects Omori and is the pinnacle of fantasy for Sunny...Whitespace Mari does whatever the hell (lol) she wants...what would be cool is if the Whitespace Mari replaced Headspace in an alternate route and slowly turned from purple to black as she walked with you to the haunted house...and her dialoge was something like "aw jeez...my hair dye faded in the humid fog" and further goes on saying the "other girl was being selfish with her own brother! So I had to put her in timeout with the other older toys" suggesting that she locked her in a toybox (like the violen was) so she could have more time with the "real you"
I now realize this, after playing first the true route, and then the hikki route. During the fight against Basil in the true route, I realized that you aren't actually fighting him, your fighting with him, fighting his Something that is causing him to kill himself and you. But in the hikki route, you are actually fighting Basil, fighting not to save him, but to reject the truth. Fucken...deep and just wow.
That makes sense. Omori kills basil multiple times in black space every time he tries to tell him something, acting the same way regardless of the route you chose in trying to shut it down so the truth can't hurt Sunny anymore.
I kinda wish they kept that haunted house scene, although it broke some rules. It feels a lot more impactful when his fantasy friends slowly vanish one by one while confused and in character than how they just all disappear at once in the game. I think it works as better closure for headspace and a more slowly burning introduction to the game's next section.
@@idkwhatsgoingon9723 Something about Mari not being able to leave her picnic carpet. Honestly don't know much about it nor where it is from in the game
@@idkwhatsgoingon9723 there are a few analyses around if you care to look. Mostly it had to do with it being out of character to guide the protagonist closer to the Truth, since they are supposed to keep you away from it
Really? I actually made a video about various obscure jumpscares throughout OMORI and I'm not gonna lie, some of those are way scarier :D, at least in my opinion.

@@noux Just finished playing hikikomori route and watched the video you mentioned(after playing omori route) I went to every places I thought I could go and horror encounter were very frequent and scary(such as hellmari was appearing way often while jumping, using mirror or while sleeping)
I am really loving that scene with the Haunted House. The way it flickers from Omori to Sunny and how it's like Sunny is fighting against Omori to regain control but fails. I just love it.
I get what you mean. Basil was just asking Sunny a simple question, not even meaning to bring up Mari or anything and he just went up and Oyasumi’ed him.
Can someone tell me why Hellmari jumpscare work so well? I'm watching this video without any sound and it's still scary. Jumpscares from FNAF, for example, doesn't scare me, but she...
Probably because of the context behind her death. Do you think something seems scary? Well, it’s only a scribble with an eye in the middle. How is it so terrifying? One answer, you-know-what it represents. The same can be said to with Hellmari and her _noodle neck_
@@ProwerAdmirer I think big giant monsters just don’t quite cut it anymore in modern day horror. Humanoid characters with disfigured features are way more terrifying, as you say.
It’s oddly creepy to me that in most of these, Aubrey, Kel and Hero are joining you, but they don’t actually say or do anything. They just kinda… follow you around.
Originally, on Black Space Aubrey kel, hero would be removed. but since these are inaccessible the player has to mod the game and teleport leaving the characters in
that always freaked me out. like when something would happen and theyd have no reaction to it. or even worse, when they _would_ but they still kept following anyway. like they have no choice.

Tbh I'm a big fan of the 'Room with Self', compared to some of OMORI's other weird or spooky content, it feels different in comparison to a lot of stuff and it makes me wonder if unexplained weird events could've been a bigger part of the game at some point in development, maybe in the form of nightmare sequences or something. Idk though, I'm just pretentious and love overthinking this sorta stuff lol
Black Space is a mixed package, tbh. On one hand, it contains a lot of references and foreshadows a lot of future reveals. On the other, it also has some of the weirdest and wackiest sh*t that doesn’t really seem to do anything, or have any significance deeper meaning. I love both aspects just as much as the other, but perhaps you’re right in assuming that these inexplicable things could have had a more significance meaning during development.

I can definitely seen why the red Helmari was cut. Having a jumpscare from opening the door twice in a row would have dissuaded most people from opening it ever again, and a lot of people would have gone down the Hikkikomori route unwittingly.
It's nice to have those kind of videos, they can give us complementary information or ideas that the devs thought would work and thus deepening the lore and understanding the story. It's neat :)

What does the finger indicate? There are scattered fingers around in black Space, and in the truth hand starts to show up with a finger being cut each time sunny pics up a picture
I honestly don't know the answer to this question, despite the fingers appearing in multiple cases throughout the game.
