..... keeping the brake shoes together is a good idea .... so long as the person who previously assembled it did it correctly ! - I fell foul of this once - when I checked the workshop manual the spring was reversed and on the wrong side ! .... well done on getting the engine out - that's going to be a BIG job !
Looking forward to the fibreglass repairs, well the Imp engine as well. I understand that the Imp engine is a relative of the Coventry Climax engines of racing fame.
Basically half a Coventry Climax racing engine I believe. I am a Bond minicar enthusiast , but have owned 2 875s covering about 80,000 miles. Great cars and great fun to drive.
The Coventry Climax 4 cyl motor was used by performance cars such as Lotus 7s and 11s. Us enthusiasts can have fun just driving to the shops. Best wishes from Australia where I have never seen a Bond and the only Reliant I have seen was a Scimitar in the 1860s.@@Robert-yr1of
The Bond body looks a bit wobbly when you lean on it. I am sure it will be much stronger soon. Thank you for another interesting video. Those brake drums sure put up a fight.
Yup, It’s mainly due to it being so badly broken! Once it’s repaired hopefully it be good as new! They sure did but I was half expecting them to put up a fight
please can you help me. Whats the best thing to remove the paint on a reliant as mine needs gelcoat repairs and a repaint. ive tried sanding it but turns into a horrible sticky jelly then sets hard and seem to be fighting a loseing battle
Just take back with sand paper, if your getting it into a thick gel then your letting thick paint heat up and clog the sanding disc, need to just work away at it
