Just got my on board air done on my jeep. Works awesome . been wanting to do it since the first time i seen this video. Finally got all the parts to do it with . I got a13 gallon tank in the trunk, 140 psi!! .Thanks guys this is awesome.
I just went back and watched this again because I'm thinking about on board air. The only thing holding me up is I still have my gauges from my co2 tank set up. Thanks for all the great info 🍻 cheers.
I've been wanting to do this to the '80 Powerwagon for years. I keep seeing guys modifying the old York style compressors on the '70's Dodge truck. 5 gallon tank, or custom bumpers that hold air. They are able to run air tools, and quickly air up tires. My problem is that she is pretty much plain Jane, no AC and I don't know if a single V-belt would be able to drive the compressor.
dudes! OBA tank.....do you have a drain on the bottom of the tank for water? and the outlet for the air on top of the tank? it helps stop it from picking up moisture. same as for a garage compressor, just look at what they have, OBA will need to have as well. you covered it, except for what i asked . how about a video where you delete the heater valve in the heater hose and the remote reservoir? and replace the radiator so you can fill it on the rad fill neck.
Hay guys I’m trying to wire up a 2006 rubicon Air pump to a rubicon rear locker. Can’t use OEM switch’s or I can’t wire back into the transfer case. Can it be done. I’ve ran power to the pump. It’s just not putting out enough air pressure if any. Thanks.
Very nice setup! I've gotta get some threads welded to my york, but I've got a similar setup... Do you also have an electronic idle up like mine? I prefer using the York compressor because it has an internal oil reservoir... Anyway, check out my setup, and lemme know what you think.. Also, what coalescing filter are you using? I've been looking for a good one, but haven't seen any compact filters..
Two possible issues. 1) Copper and, less so, brass, when it vibrates around a lot like on an engine, will get more and more brittle. You may have issues with leaks after a year or two. This is why you don't find a lot of copper @ the engine or even on a car with the exception of wires and some radiators. 2) Going from steel to brass or copper with any moisture (and it will gather moisture) will create galvanic corrosion on the steel parts. Those can fail in a few years depending on use. Advice to anyone who does this...stay with steel piping and lines or go to aluminum.

All the gas leaked out long before I owned the Jeep I'm guessing. Never worked, but the pump was still good. There was some oil left in the pump. I got that out by running it open with a rag over the hole. Im sure there is still some oil in the evap and the condenser, but its not going anywhere.
Sick nice job. Would like to add another compressor to my ecoboost to achieve this. The only thing I was wondering is how do you know how much PSI a a/c compressor can handle?
+Gator Schopper To be honest, It sucks. If you forget to top it up, youll run it dry and kill the thing. and it doesnt take long to empty out. Working on a different way to keep it lubed. Stay tuned...
Im having trouble finding a one way check do you have a link to one? I can't figure out what they're called. Also are most of those pressure controllers adjustable?
THE XJ EFFECT Sure could! The problem is that the best electric pumps on the market run between 1 - 1.5 CFM with a max output of 150psi. Thats really not a lot, and they have quite a draw. The factory A/C compressor runs between 8 - 11 CFM and is rated up to 300 psi. Couple that with a 6 gallon tank, and you'v got yourself some jam with your air tools.
