In this video, I discuss what lip-syncing is, as well as its various uses. Lip-syncing is common in the music industry, and big names from Beyonce, to Ariana Grande to Michael Jackson, have all done it. I discuss how lip synching can be used to avoid mistakes in performances, such as the SuperBowl and when Beyonce sang the National Anthem. Award shows like the Grammys and VMAs often require artists to lip sync or at use some playback and pre-recorded vocals. I also talk about how lip syncing is common in the kpop industry, and how groups like Aespa and Red Velvet are constantly called out for it. In several cases, artists use another singer's vocals and try to pass them off as their own. I'll finally touch on J-Lo's infamous vocal stealing, and you know I can't leave Milli Vanilli out of the conversation. In all, I think lip syncing is a nuanced conversation, especially when there are multiple uses and intentions behind it, not all of them deceptive.
