Jimmy Stewart and Henry Fonda were superb in this. Jimmy's look on his face when "alfalfa" hit the sour notes was pricelesss. The scenes that Jimmy and Henry were in were in my opinion the greatest scenes in this movie. Too bad these two legends weren't in the whole movie.
Boy this movie is hard to find. I'm glad I only just heard about it, or it would have bugged me for years, but I'm not paying $60 to get a copy from the USA.
Interestingly, while Stewart and Fonda were lifelong friends, they were both polar opposites politically. There is an apocryphal story about the two getting into a punch-up in public over politics once, but Stewart said he and Fonda never had an argument, ever. The secret? They NEVER talked politics. A lesson for our times!
Great clip! I would love to see this movie in the future. All these actors'( Jimmy Stewart, Henry Fonda, and even Carl "alfalfa" Switzer) performances are brilliant in it . Can't go wrong with that. Thanks for sharing this wonderful movie clip.😃
James Stewart and Henry Fonda were legendarily best friends, living together for years, and two of the best actors going. I can think of two other similar friendships from the same era: Cary Grant and Randolph Scott, and Errol Flynn and David Niven.
