On social media for photographers (and how I use it)

Social media is probably the most powerful tool creators have to show their work today. There's nothing even close to its reach and convenience.
But with great power comes great responsibility, and social media apps come with plenty of dangers we should be aware of.
I personally try to focus as much as I can on the platforms I do control (my website and newsletter), and use social media as a tool to get new eyes to see my work, keep people updated, and to let everyone know where else they can find me. Relying solely on social media is a trap, it's not under your control, and it's not under your own terms.
I also schedule my posting on social media, so I don't have to open the apps to share my work. I don't even need to have the apps, since I do all of this from my computer.

I've seen and heard many opinions about the social media from many influencers. Your approach is, in mho, the most honest and close to reality. And since you've been asked for it, yes I am interested in these automation tools that helps you use more time on the real thing, so please, develop this in one of your next video. My sincere appreciation, Bogdan.

For similar reasons I started my RU-vid channel in 2019 to share my photography and soon followed that with my own website. Up until then I'd never used social media, I didn't even have an Instagram account. I just love the art of photography. It still bemuses me today how someone can only have posted for example 10 random photos in their entire Instagram feed yet have over 1,000 + followers - I just smile and click away...

Great video. Thanks for sharing. You have a great outlook on social media. Also whoever first thought that skittles all taste the same doesn't know what they are talking about. But you do. Good job

Great way of thinking. Thanks a lot for this content. Actually I haven't used social media for posting for some time. But now that I've been interested about photography and taking a course, I'll give it a shot to share my photos as an enthusiast (hobby).

... totally agree with you. Life's too short to be spent on a social network.

If it wasn't for Instagram, I wouldn't have gotten to meet you both. So happy that Instagram provided the "coffee shop." 😊

Interesting viewpoint. I am trying to use Instagram as a way to advertise my official website and RU-vid channel. It would be great to see your videos on how you manage your time as a black n white photographer. You're actually one of the 1st B&W photographers that I've followed on IG in awhile lol.

Recently it feels that people on IG only seek for exposure online rather than quality socializing. )
