Update: due to the way the foot clamp works at the very bottom of the stand when you tighten the screw, it pushes the vertical pole off to one side, and as a result, it doesn't stand vertically at 90°, it leans at about 81/82° as a result of this I wouldn't recommend this stand as just mounting the boom arm can cause it to fall over due to the change in the stand's centre of gravity all caused by the screw that clamps the "vertical" pole in-place.
I decided to get a microphone stand as my little desk-mounted “crane” stand while fine if sat down recording, I couldn’t use it for standing recordings without leaning over the desk which I found wasn’t comfortable (I also prefer to record standing). Also, as the crane stand was mounted on my desk I couldn’t easily move my microphone to record on my laptop, but with a floor stand, all I need to do is pick it up, move it, then plug it back in - much easier!
