Look there are certain rules for habitation in the world. A lot of them deal with safety issues. What about the slumlord who rents to someone with substandard or dangerous electrical? What if that renter has kids? What would you say if a infant was being bathed in the kitchen sink and got electrocuted because of a leak under the sink onto a garbage disposal electrical plug that was way old and shouild have been GFI? CODE ENFORCEMENT IS TRYING TO PREVENT DANGEROUS ACCIDENTS AND OTHER HAZARDS, AS WELL AS MAINTAINING THE VISUAL APPEAL OF A TOWN, CITY OR NEIGHBORHOOD.
