Sounds mighty fine! Very articulate and yet has some nice warmth. Congrats, on that! If you want to make that reverb sound even better, run the return from the tank into the normal channel (using the necessary adapter cable(s) ), and EQ out all the bass and run up the bright switch. Very nice sound.
Tonetwisters - Thanks very much. I'm familiar with that mod, but I don't care for it. It can make the preamp unstable without some modifications. The reverb sounds perfect to me as it is. If it's made too bright, it interferes with the basic tone. I like that you can control the reverb with touch. It ducks behind the direct signal.
Great videos - thanks for posting. i have a silverface Vibrolux Reverb which was modded some years back by Brinsley Shwarz so that one channel is tweed spec and the other is blackface...it also has an added mid pot with reverb and tremolo common to both channels. It sounds great but it way too heavy for my aging back so i'm going to take out the stock 2 X 10" speakers and replace these with a neo 12". How would I remove the baffle?
Waiting for my 1971 Vibrolux to show up this Friday and I hope it sounds as good as your example. It's been gone thru and sold to me by Retro King Amps in NY and it looks great. My question is with the voltage for this amp being 117 volts spec'd by Fender and my home voltage in N. FL being 121.5V measured with my Fluke 77, should I invest in a varic to get the volts down to the optimum 117V to keep from damaging this amp and of course, to get the optimum tone that it was set up for at that voltage, or is there some other power conditioning gear that would be a better option? Thanx for your time and consideration in responding...
Hi Scooter, thanks for your great video. I have a similar Vibrolux from 1977. The reverb has an annoying buzz when turned up. I measured 51dB(A) direct on the grill cloth at the center of one speaker. Is that normal? Why did you change the reverb transformer? Best regards Dark Star
