Your “on the job” videos, such as this one, are great. Thank you and keep up the good work.

Hey, I work with I.A. 470, the local that works EAA. I didn't get a chance to stop by your venue, but I want to say that having skilled, nice, and fun to work with production crew like you makes a huge difference in our day. Thank you.

Glad it was injury-free this year. Great video rundown. I enjoy the details including those mice.

That family of mice is there every year... I like to imagine them using the electricity in there for some large industrial mouse project.

The obvious joke is: mouse or electronics.

Nice. I particularly liked the mouse nest in the AC box, nestled between the hot legs.

Thanks! Your uploads are always greatly apreciated. I wish you could find the oportunity to go more technicaly in-depth on some of these gig report videos. You explained in one of your previous videos why you can't necessarily do so, but nonetheless it would we very nice if you found a way to do so. Keep up the good work!

That's one hell of a screen. I thought I dealt with big at 140".....

How much does it cost to rent all that equipment for that particular set up?
@DcSoundOp
@DcSoundOp 4 года назад
Ed Dayz I don’t know anyone who would just rent this stuff out - it’s fairly specialized using DCP projection outdoors & those air screens require a good bit of experience to rig safely outdoors. You’d also have a very hard time getting any content to play on a dcp machine unless you’re in the business, licensing is no joke with studios, even for older films.

Wow you use a 35k lumen projector!!! I was just wondering how effective a Christie 14k lumen projector with short throw lenses would be on a 25ft outdoor screen???
@DcSoundOp
@DcSoundOp 2 года назад
It takes a good bit of firepower to put on a good show outdoors for sure. A 14k would be a wash out unless you have absolutely no ambient light, heavy cloud cover to block the moon & a real cinema screen surface. The Christie 20k Lasers could do it, but you still need to mitigate as much ambient as possible.

@@DcSoundOp thanks for the reply! that’s what I was afraid of. I don’t know your screen size in this video, but I see people using cheap consumer projectors on large screen surfaces. I didn’t know what kind of lumen output is required for 20-25ft diagonal active area. Our throw is about 0:67:1. I don’t want to overlap (or edge blend) multiple projectors for more firepower, but I like the Christie m series 3DLP with ILS lenses for portability and power consumption, but they are only 14k lumens each. And I’m rear projecting, so I can’t use blackout surface behind the screen

@@phasetek In the video, that's a 65' AirScreen. You should give my friends at Outdoor Movies a call and see what they recommend ( they sell all of this stuff) and what availability is like right now. If you're buying a whole system, you'd really want to know how long until everything is in stock and shipping right now before you commit. They are good friends and won't steer you wrong - www.outdoor-movies.com/

@@DcSoundOp Thanks for the info, maybe I'm not as far off as I thought. From your video it looks like they were using a Christie CP4230 which is a 35k lumen laser projector. 65' diagonal is massive! (definitely bigger that something we would take on ourselves). That's almost 2000sqft of screen projection area. Assuming it was a single projector, that seems like a (relatively) low intensity of about 18lumens/sqft. Airscreen does make some very nice projection surfaces though that will not be wasteful of projector output. I'm looking at 20-25ft of active area which is about 200-300sqft. With a 14k M-Series (the 14000 is really center lumens I think on those, so it may be slightly optimistic, but they are same projector as roadsters) 3DLP projector, I can probably get close to 50lumens/sqft (which I didn't think was enough for rear projection, but I haven't tried it yet). I'm primarily looking for something that is very portable with minimal setup/strike efforts & heavy equipment required (I wish I could spare a full truck or two to equipment for the video projection setup lol). If setup/strike was not a concern, we would probably do a modular LED wall, but a single projector video projection setup (edge blending and overlaying projectors adds a lot of time to temporary setups) with inflatable screen in low ambient light, I feel can get the job done with a far easier setup/strike.

Great video what type of projector do you guys use?
@DcSoundOp
@DcSoundOp 3 года назад
The company owns loads of the bigger Christie Digital DCP systems. They have 2k & 4K machines, laser machines as well as 3D setups and the ability to network multiples for side by side or back to back screen or hot backups. They’re not really made for how much we move them around, but it’s manageable as the other techs are certified to do component level repair in the field & we carry lots of spares.

I want to open a buisiness with this, is there any way you can contact me with everything I need?
@DcSoundOp
@DcSoundOp 2 года назад
Hi, thanks for the question. You'd want to check out these guys who can set you up with everything you need to put on an event or purchase your own system, all depends on how big you need to go - you can contact them through this site & you'll probably talk to Bob who owns the operation. You can tell them Steve sent you. - www.outdoor-movies.com/movie-screen-package/
