It is often the case that the difficulty in understanding truth is the tendency to shy away from the complexity of reality. Yet to understand the concept of Natural Selection is to see nature as a web of complex relations. Complexity must be confronted, acknowledged and tackled for the truth behind reality to be understood. This is a philosophical lesson Charles Darwin teaches in his classic text, "On the Origin of Species."

This was an extremely interesting discussion, thank you very much. The example of environment rather than intelligence determining survival makes so much sense to me, and it is true that intelligence may actually be a hindrance. I am still trying to sort out this whole theory, but your video has helped me to understand it somewhat better.

Dude you have no idea how much you’re saving me! I saw you have so many discussions on such a wide arrange of thinkers and those I’m going to get through after Darwin! Only today i was considering to drop out of my course because of being so overwhelmed. I will be coming back to watch this to aid me through! Truly, thank you so so much 😭❤️

Amazing review of the book! You are such a brilliant guy! On the origins of the species is one of my favourite books and I've always been sad about how Darwin is misunderstood. And those people who oppose evolution theory don't even read the original texts. Also as long as reading his work, you find how prudent he drew scientific conclusions, how much effort he spent on collecting evidence and how much he valued the process of collecting evidence. Many people take these things for granted for a scientist. No, even many renowned scientists do not completely adhere to evidence. To me, he is such a great scientist, one of a kind.

He was interesting guy you got to think most people literally thought the story's they was told in Sunday school. I do find truth what he says but I do believe in spiritual side of things as to alot people who into him does not. In fact guy that worked beside him afred Russel walace believed in spiritualism thought there was a spiritual reason behind evolution I used to own this book.

It's sad that so many Christians are threatened or offended by the theory of evolution by natural selection. The theory does not necessarily eliminate the possibility of a creator God. One could easily deduce that God set up the initial conditions for evolution to occur. In that way, both ideas can coexist. It just goes to show the lack of critical thinking present in many Christian communities.

Penguin Books may be cheap, but there are better editions of various classical works by other publishers. Penguin is notorious for publishing loosely translated translations & editions without an proper critical appartus. You should also do an video on Library Genesis
@theblackponderer
@theblackponderer 5 лет назад
"On the Origin of Species" was originally published in English so the Penguin Edition in this video is not translated. There are just editorial footnotes and an introduction by the editor, which are quite extensive in my opinion. Penguin Classic Editions have excellent introductions and footnotes that have helped in my understanding of the texts from my experience. Several Penguin Classic Editions (such as this one) also include further suggested reading lists which primarily include editions not by Penguin that I have taken advantage of to also help my understanding.

Is anything wrong with library genesis? I have used library genesis a lot of times, but very soon gave up on reading books online as I realised this might effect my eyes. Instead, I started using audiobooks although they do not come for free but a few audiobook services come for affordable prices. Even on RU-vid, there are many valuable audiobooks available. Btw, your last name reminded me of Mikhail Bakunin. :)

Christian Extremist School Principal to 16 Year me : "if we have descended from monkeys why are there still monkeys" He failed his attempt to convert me . Reason and logic won. However my brother married a christian crazy woman anyway and now he lost his balls to her.
@theblackponderer
@theblackponderer 2 года назад
Common misconception of the theory. Hope you kindly corrected the school headmasters in saying that Darwin did not propose we descended from monkeys, rather his proposition is that all primates which include chimpanzees, orangutans, gorillas, and humans (and don’t include monkeys) share a common ancestor.

Example: Viruses are continuously changing as a result of genetic selection. They undergo subtle genetic changes through mutation and major genetic changes through recombination. Mutation occurs when an error is incorporated in the viral genome. That is natural evolution.

Viruses are ancient. Studies at the molecular level have revealed relationships between viruses infecting organisms from each of the three domains of life, not just man. This suggests viral proteins that pre-date the divergence of life and thus infecting the most recent population of organisms living on Earth.
