As part of our continuing series "On the Road," Steve Hartman meets Melissa Mainier, a Pennsylvania waitress who, thanks to a generous tipper, paid off her entire nursing school debt.
It does. Through everyone he’s helped. And actually more than that if you think about it. The nurse he paid for is saving lives and spirits that will further help others. He was a good man. The old order has passed away: welcome them into paradise, where there will be no sorrow, no weeping or pain, but fullness of peace and joy with your Son and the Holy Spirit forever and ever
He will be paid back 100 fold and let's hope he has a long life, but when the end comes, he will be one of the folks who will get cuts in the line......
I used to be a waitress. Have always worked hard. Didn't notice it until my clients started asking me which was my station, or the tables I was to tend to, which left me with full tables while the other waiters and waitress didn't do anything (and didn't complain). I also have a great memory, so when my customers came in I could tell what they wanted and how depending on the hour of the day. We weren't supposed to get tips cuz we were being paid by the hour. When Christmas time came, I was very much surprised when several of them gave me cards telling me not to open them until I got home. And on my birthday as well, the older ladies found out when my birthday was and did the same. I cried when I opened the beautiful cards they had given me, some contained money, one had a gift card, and another had a $100 bill!! I was so touched. No wonder they didn't want me to open them in front of them, and I tried returning the money... Well, my dear co-workers found out SOMEHOW, they complained, and I was fired. But I'll never forget these amazing people. They were so much fun to be around too!!
It's okay 😊 guarantee you those ladies who gave out of the kindness of their hearts to make life just a little bit easier never went back there after you left deeming it "worthless" and ready to spread their good deeds amongst somebody else
Youve got to be kidding ! You earned the affection of your customers through your competence and your kindness and if THEY decide they want to reward you for it, nobody has the right to deny them. IIf they found out what happened to you, I KNOW that theyd force the management to take you back or they'll go somewhere else for their food. Dont take it lying down. Fight back for what is right. You'd make a precedent for other waitpeople in other places. I know how hard you people work , so I always give good tips, knowing there are customers out there who give small or even no tips to hard working men and women. I appreciate you and want you to succeed.
Steve Hartman thank you for sharing such a wonderful story. Hearing about these individuals helps beat back all the bad news. Everybody wins when you are able to share good fortune. He knows his generosity will help humanity. The nurse will help thousands over the course of her career.
I hope CBS never gets rid of Steve Hartman and his on the road series. God bless this man for doing this hopefully it will inspire others too also spread a little cheer.
Watching this leaves me humbled and challenged to be better than I am today. Big heart Mr Olewine, the world needs a couple of million people like you. Thanks for being a blessing and an inspiration to humanity. God bless you 100 times and more.
He changed her life forever. She also changed her life forever. He's a great human being and so is she for bettering herself and now she will be helping people forever with her caring for the sick and injured, great story all around.
God Bless that Gentleman, it's so rare to see this sort of thing but it sure does warm the heart. Kinda like a volunteer Grandpa who recognized this Little Gal's potential and opened His Heart and Pocket Book.. Well Done..
That gentleman is great, he is such a good person and he helped the young woman achieve her goal feeling supported, emotionally as well as financially, by someone who truly cares. Bless them both
i wish i could do that. I wish i had money to give to people. But, i'm only 16 and work at a job that pays min. wage. Not much i can do, all i have been able to do is buy people's snacks at gas stations.. Still love their reactions though. Truly amazing feeling...
Better than money is giving people your time. Visit an elderly home and hang out with the older people, you'll see what I mean. I had people in wheelchairs up dancing, folks that been silent for years laughing and telling me stories, and people who refused to eat solid foods......eating. Being around pleasant youth bring out the kid in people.
This is great to see. Sometimes things like this happen and the person ends up blowing the money or never follows through with their schooling. Love to see that she followed through, and now is looking at getting another degree. Awesome job to both.
One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed a boy picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean. Approaching the boy, he asked, “What are you doing?” The youth replied, “Throwing starfish back into the ocean. The surf is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them back, they’ll die.” “Son,” the man said, “don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish? You can’t make a difference!” After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish, and threw it back into the surf. Then, smiling at the man, he said…” I made a difference for that one.”
I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO A WEEKEND OF REST... I LOVE THESE STORIES... WHILE IM COOKING I WATCH THEM / LISTEN TO THEM IN KITCHEN TV.... THEY GIVE ME MUCH JOY!!! I HAD REALLY HARD DAY TODAY BUT AS SOON AS I SAW THIS STORY ... ALL SMILES 😍😍😍😍... LOVE IT THAT THERE ARE ANGELS IN THIS WORLD!😘

THANK YOU MR. BENJAMIN OLEWINE III! WE KNOW THAT YOU ARE ONE OF GOD'S ANGELS! MAY GOD BLESS YOU WITH MANY MORE GOOD & GENEROUS YEARS! THE EARTH WILL MISS YOU DEARLY WHEN YOU ARE GONE!
Jake Hollywood How about we just offer gratitude and compassion to this remarkable man. He is responsible for what he decided to do so why cheapen it with the supernatural?
sheikhyaboooty He isn't cheapening it, he's making it more real, hoping God will bless him, ya know.....God....who made it possible for you to be on this earth :) I dare you to read Psalms 139!
Just congratulated the graduating class at the Governor's Palace in Rijeka,Croatia and now I am waiting for a Philantropist to pay for my lunch!!! Best,Ranka
Aspiring students should be able to follow their dreams and succeed without crushing debt. The profit needs to be taking out of our schools of higher learning. Melissa had an angel sent to her. And what a man he is. Why have money if one doesn't share it? Most well off people don't. Benjamin Olewine passed away May 27, 2017 at age 95.
I certainly don't disagree with him being a kind man but good works don't get us to heaven. One way to heaven and that's to repent for our sins and ask jesus christ in to our hearts. This man probably is a man of God so he's reaping his rewards.
That is so awesome if I can only help my back I've been in so much back pain I can't stand it anymore God knows what I go through every day there's times today I pray for him to take me home because I'm so tired I put up a lot of front in front of my families and friends but one friend knows how much pain I'm in and I love her dearly thank you for sharing I've been so awesome people out there care about young people to help them💜🕊🌹
