FOX5 Surprise Squad's Cassandra Jones visited a local grocery store in Boulder City, Nevada to surprise shoppers with an unexpected turkey-trot to get them ready for Thanksgiving... but it was one veteran's story that got us choked-up.
No disrespect, but your sentiments are easily said through a RU-vid comment. Thank you for that. But, when you see a man/women in public that has served, please thank them. When you see a man/women that has served across from you in an interview, please hire them. When you see a prior service member struggling with drug abuse or alcoholism, find a way to find them help. It is the little things in life that mean the most for us. Most of those little things involve your personal help. The reason why that man cried is because that never happens for veterans in any capacity. Those tears are the pain of being ignored, looked over, disrespected, and ashamed. Thank a veteran in the best way possible. Help that veteran succeed in life.
Stop saying ' the world needs more people like him'' and instead say '' i am going to be like him''. start with yourself and people will follow. don't just sit there and wait for everyone else
@@christopherbeltran4819 being bad at serving its citizens is different than intentionally oppressing them. You should visit Saudi Arabia or China or Russia or Poland or Qatar and speak out for LGBT rights. See what reaction you get. It's important to know that we have a lot of improving to do, but set reasonable expectations. The majority of the world has it worse than us. Western Europe is the goal, not the baseline standard.
@@jeromy2886 And what if he didn't? He got food one would eat for Thanksgiving. It's not like they gave him gift cards. If he doesn't eat it I'm sure it'll go to a friend or family member that does need it.
He was so humble and strong and being disabled and his fiancé is too and to say give it to somebody who needs it man it shook me when he cried made me cry too
That guy should have picked 2 turkeys and all the trimmings for Thanksgiving. It pisses me off military don’t get more money after their service for a place to live and healthy food.
"Give it to someone who needs it'' that made me cry , cause you can see he is suffering, but still would rather give it to someone that needs it more. His character is exemplary . dude , you deserve that little bit of luck
@@millionairemoney9922 probably did and still do nothing wrong with taking help only wrong in thinking you are above it don’t mean it in any bad way just saying most single moms need help nothing wrong with that hope you are you’re kid is doing well

@Survivalist Dave I’m sorry Dave, which President are you referring to in regards to the VA? Obama ushered in the Choice Program for veterans. He began to address the concern of suicide amongst veterans.
@Survivalist Dave now this comment is reality. A very pathetic situation. Trump was the first President to really shine a light on the vets and there was a lot more to come. I have seen hundreds of YT channels spring up in the last four years who are getting your word out.

@@sramoore0075187 no disrespect man, i just dont really feel like commenting about the fact that vets are treated so fucking bad that they end up commiting suicide by cops and half the cops are so fucked because of shit like this half them are vets tryna be cops to prevent that same sort of shit. my dad was a multiple division vet. my grandad was army. i definitely don't disrespect my elders or my vets. but at the end of the day, this shit is truely wack, and that is all bad. like you said though, if you can thank them, and if you can do more do more. the people i like the most , my idols are more like the dustin poriers and the rought but charitable cut. i dont like to say as much as some but i can. thanks man if you served have a good one and hope your veterans day was good too.
Love that man who was buying for himself and his fiance. He only had water in his cart. Cassandra Jones took him back in to the store to fill his cart. "I'm just trying, that's all." (emotions rush in on him) "Excuse me, whew!" "That hit you most when someone give to you, you don't expect it, and you all walk up and do this for me - it's great m'am, its so wonderful and I thank you. I can't wait to get home, and cooking, and having a wonderful Thanksgiving from Fox5." What a big hearted and gracious man!
Our local news station was trying to do this I think last year for veterans day and the two host said it was their biggest struggle to find a veteran who would take the help because like him they all just kept saying there's got to be someone out there who can use it more.

@fooloof There is nobody else we think about then country, constitution, each other and survival. I went to a pointless war. But I kept Americans alive
As a VietNam era Nurse I broke down crying with that gracious, wonderful man Vet at the end. Am so glad Fox5 gave to him so he & his Vet fiance can have a great Thanksgiving.

As a Brit I admire many things about America and its people but I find it sad that so many of its veterans, like our own, struggle for so many years after they leave the service. It is about time that the Western democracies took better care of their people, and particularly those who have served. Shelter, food and healthcare are needed by everyone yet so many struggle on without those essentials, or at least with the minimum amounts of them. I applaud the Fox5 team for helping out those who require extra support, even if they are too proud to admit it. People do care but are often too busy making ends meet themselves that they have little time for others.
The veteran who thought someone else needed it more !! This is the kind of person who appreciates anything that you give and will most likely already be sharing what little they have. I like Squad 5.
Now we can't do that because it's an assault unless you ask permission. Worse, if you invade my space, even by accident, it can give me just cause to kill you. You know we live in f'ed up times given the election we just had 😬
I did that once and the way people reacted, you would have thought I brought back life! The women started crying and thanking me, other customers were telling me what a nice thing that was. I have to admit, it did feel good. I just keep remembering the time I got laid off, and my employment ran out. The phone company was turning off my phone. Then everything just changed. The owner of the complex I lived in stopped charging me rent, people just started bringing me food, a friend paid all of my bills. So my one act of kindness doesn't compare to the love and kindness these people showed. Everybody needs help every now and then. We live on this planet together so let's act like it!
We owe everything to our veterans. Always the first to give and the last to take. It breaks my heart that some veterans are homeless and struggling. The last man was just precious. Imagine how beautiful the world would be if everyone was just so kind and loving
This is just so incredibly wonderful, tender and heartwarming. And the way the reporter at the end got choked up! So tender! I love this so, so, so much! ❤️❤️❤️
@ 2:12......that guy is truly humble and the person anyone would want to give to and not because he needs it because he appreciates it and @ 2:47.....oh the feels......had tears falling with this one. I love that guy.
The last guy brought me to tears,in need and still saying give it to someone who needs it wow,not much great human like him on the planet 😊God bless him 🙏
I am from India and i bow my head in front of you people who are doing such a great help.....you are the real god....hope one day i could help you with some thing thai i had.
What a beautifully humble man. A disabled military veteran with a disabled military veteran wife who goes and says there are more deserving people out there.
As my tears began to flow.. I am grateful Fox5 was able to bring Joy to many lives during the Season.. I too have been in a struggle.. this act of kindness was truly a blessing.
You're not alone. Thank you for your service, and even more so that you made it back and are here. There are still a lot more good people than bad in this world, and it's up to each of us to remember that kindness costs nothing. Wishing you & yours a very happy holiday season filled with laughter and love!
Too many nights I spend, watching youtube videos like this that leave me a mess. All of those who were given a surprise in this video were very grateful, you could tell, but the humility and compassion and the complete graciousness of the last gentleman? It makes you so happy to know people like him are out there. What a lovely man.
I can’t even with this story… omg. This is so lovely. I remember when I was doing “well”, I had the notion to give the cashier at Walmart a gift card that I was going to use for her to spend on Christmas (I had a feeling she needed it somehow). People actually really can’t believe it. They say, “Why?… I don’t understand.” I’m now not in as well of a position but still give what I can. We all need love and unconditional help sometimes.
It’s crazy how our vets are treated so bad in this country… they deserve so much more than what’s given to them…. Over 15 years ago I bagged groceries as a teenager with the kindest man ever that was a vet… he was so humble and would give you the shirt off his back…
The Vietnam vet" I want to say " thankyou" for everything you done so we can have freedom 💜 that's a purple heart just for you. And 🦊 fox 5 your awesome!!!
Always nice to see people helping those in need.It really gives me hope in these times today.People help out your neighbors and Vets …it’s what we are supposed to do.❤️🇺🇸🙏🌎☮️
This was very nice of them to buy everyone there groceries for Thanksgiving. During the holidays it gets very expensive and even overwhelming.. Blessings like these are greatly appreciated and unexpected.. it motivates me to do the same for others..
Man have we been there. I know exactly how it feels to struggle. To those going through hard times keep your head up. It does get better. Happy Holidays.
I love that a number of the folks they helped are disabled veterans. My husband is a service-disabled veteran who served 20 years in the Army. We do alright money wise but there are many disabled vets who don't -they live paycheck to paycheck and barely scrape by. Fox5, you're doing a wonderful thing helping these veterans and their families by giving them a Happier Thanksgiving.
We gotta start taking care of these vets. Bro ate all the humble pie said give it to someone that needs it. When really he needed it.. much respect brotha from another color 🙏 💯 And more so THANK YOU for your service you deserve this. ❤
Wow, that is so incredibly AWESOME that this news station offers this amazing kindness and generosity at Thanksgiving. These recipients will never forget this Holiday and your kindness! It brought tears to my eyes as well. Thank you for sharing this heart-warming story. God bless you.
