+Harry Avis He means it's the tallest manmade structure rising from the ground it stands on up to the highest point. If there was (say a small shack) a structure established at the summit of Mount Everest, it would not be the tallest man-made structure, despite being 29,000 feet high. It doesn't rise from 0ft to 29,000 feet. However, said shack could be the highest man-made point on Earth, as that defines something that is put up as high as possible.
This kinda reminds me of when I visited the grand canyon. Imagine looking down over 1,000 feet above other high cliffs. Kinda like looking down at the top of the other tall buildings in this video.

Scottish people are 'everywhere' because they have the skill & expertise to build these awe inspiring iconic structures. I have just returned from Dubai today & visited the Burj Khalifa. The lift travels from ground level to the 124th floor in less than a minute. That'll be the Scots for you!! Ps. It's they're everywhere not 'there'. If you are going to insult people at least get the spelling/grammar correct.
Correction, This is the highest man made structure in the world. None the less a very impressive feat of height. Nothing currently comes close, the next tallest building is 200m shorter than the Burj Khalifa.
LOL WOW I tell you its one thing to be on top of a tall building, It's completely another to be on a spire/tower. I used to work at a public tv station in Maryland and just going to the top of the 600 foot tower is breath taking and tons of movement. I can't even imagine the gonads required to build something like this. More power to you boys.
An earthquake here would cause less damage than you think... The sand absorbs all of the shaking... If a decent sized earthquake hit New York it would be horrible. The whole city is built on a giant rock... Plus the buildings are way older and not built for earthquakes.
