This has just come up on my RU-vid, simply brilliant! I am in the UK, and model British in OO, but i can still admire your classic U.S. theme, and modelling skills.

Hello Phil, many thanks for your kind words, I'm in the UK too, I've gone off plan a bit recently modelling just silly stuff really, but this winter, I hope to get back to some British layouts, I have a micro 7mm to build so I'm looking forward to that, wishing you all the best, Carl

A really nice layout - a lot of different scenes packed into a small space. I particularly like how you've done the river and how the line runs along it (visible in your overhead video) and crosses it in a very natural manner. Excellent work.

Man, that is some pretty scenery. Very nice job! You should add some sound to that little loco.

Many thanks for your kind words,Sound is next on the list, both locos are radio controlled so its a little tight for space, but I'm sure it will fit in somewhere

It would make a great exhibition layout- very inspiring. I build my layouts in 6ft modules HOn30 scale & run oo9 rolling stock. I love the track plan you have used, it would make a great small exhibition layout, would you mind if I build similar in HOn30 Australian scenery seeing i cannot buy yours? Keep up the great work. Kind regards Colin

Hi Colin, I pinched the design from an 009 layout myself so please do as you will, and I look forward to seeing it. Hoping to do a H0n30 micro layout myself so I'll be keeping a close eye on you. Best wishes

@@carlroberts2539 Thanks Carl, I must make up something and post on youtube about my existing Exhibition layouts, so others can see them now that Covid has cut down Exhibitions here in Aus. stay safe.

Fantastic job, I really love it! Hey, just one suggestion, that stone bridge, are you still going to work on that? In real life, that thing would never hold up like that. Make it a small girder bridge or something. But really, this is such beautiful work!

An amazing layout, love all the little details and the siding over the river. Is the 0-4-4-0 loco running on a pair of Bachmann Edward chassis?
@carlroberts2539

Many thanks for your kind words, I really enjoyed making this layout. The engine is a Bachmann Heisler, just dirted up a little.

@@carlroberts2539 Ah I see, the wheelbase looked similar. Having looked at your other videos it's great how much you've added to a figure of 8 layout in scenery alone.
@carlroberts2539
@carlroberts2539 3 года назад
@@AtreiusLux Thats kind of you to say, I like building layouts in all gauges but On30 is probably my favourite, I pinched the plan from an 009 layout from years ago but set out to try and get the viewer to concentrate on the scenery rather than the limitations of the track on such a small layout. I'm hoping to sell this one, as I have ideas for another! Happy modelling. All the best.

Hello and thanks for your question, I sold this layout about 12 months ago, and I do build a lot so my memory is not so good, there is a video on here from above showing the plan which I got a bit of stick for which hopefully will help, if I can find the elevations working out, I will take a picture and post it on here, many thanks all the best, Carl

@@griffithmoses2157 thanks very much, I remember when I started this layout, I had an On 30 Porter engine, I laid half of the track basically the bottom half ,and that gave me the high clearance for the top section, as I mentioned I did write it down somewhere as I had that question asked a lot, the bachmann engines handled the steep gradient well in fact the only problem I noticed was they speeded up on the descent, have to admit I didn't consider that, so really going up was easy coming down was more of a problem, if you're doing a layout, bear that in mind, all the best and help you think I can give please just ask
@griffithmoses2157
@griffithmoses2157 2 месяца назад
@@carlroberts2539 Thanks you for response Carl. After asking the question about the elevations, I realised that it would depend largely on the height clearance needed for the locos pass under!
@carlroberts2539
@carlroberts2539 2 месяца назад
@@griffithmoses2157 absolutely spot on, if you notice on one of the videos you will see the engine catch the side wall of the bridge, I used a smaller engine, a Porter, to build the layout, but then purchased a Heisler so had to go back and do a few alterations, I would say the Heisler has a fantastic amount of power and very smooth running, although the porter is a good engine, it is a little light, if I used more than four wagons, I got wheel slip, looking forward to seeing what you come up with, and anything I can help with I'm certainly will, all the best Carl

@@carlroberts2539 RC with live rail? I'm just getting into the hobby and I'm trying to figure out DCC vs Dead Rail vs RC terminology. Coming from the RC car world, dead rail is certainly appealing, but trying to tuck a battery into a porter sounds quite miserable. Interested to hear any knowledge you can share!
