This is a harvest festival and though communism has its bad ends it was this ideology that brought equality in Kerala and abolished the caste system. Unlike stupid North Indians who still take pride in their caste, we don't.

Onam is celebrated on Dwadashi Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada and under Shravana Nakshatra. This is being celebrated on September 15, 2024. As per Hindu Mythology, King Mahabali so generous and considered as a great ruler of Kerala. The kingdom was so prosperous and and peaceful in his reign.

Onam is NOT a harvest festival. It i the celebration of the fifth avatar of Vishnu as Vamana. It is Vamana's appearance day. Keep Hinduism in Onam. Don't let these fools convince you that it is a Harvest festival. This is not harvest time in Kerala.

Dude we are literally celebrating king maveli who is an asura. The gods " reincarnation of Vishnu" got jealous of Maveli's prosperous land and the unity of its people and he tricked the king to paathala. His return is when we celebrate Onam. It's Maveli's apperance day. This is the mythology apart from that of course it's a harvest festival as harvest of rice happens at this time hence the sadhya..

Maha Bali is not hindu God . He belongs to Asura ( Raakshasa) . That's why , Vamana incarnation of Lord Sri maha Vishnu , sent him to Pathal lok ., and given boon that Every year for one day he can come to Earth. That's why Christians Muslims also participate in ONAM. But Hindus celebrate as Sri Vamana Jayanthi ( 5th incarnation of Lord vishnu )

What she is narrating is wrong. God's dont get jealous. Raja Bali had performed 99 great and difficult yagnas. Only one was left t9 complete 100 yagnas. The eligibility criteria to perform All types og yagas and yagnas is the performer has to be a Dharmathma and he should be loyal to hus wife and family in Gruhasthashrama Dharma and the yoga should be performed only with the wealth earned only by Dharmuc ways. Only to such a person the guru g8v3s permission to perform yagna. Bali qualifi3d in all this and he was performing the 100th yagna he would get the Indrasan. So lord vishne came and sent him to patal lol. Pleas3 dont bring such people who don't know antpything and don't distort our sciiptures.

@@dripp110 AFAIK, Keralites worship Vishnu and his avatars (Padmanabhan in Thiruvananthapuram, Krishna in Guruvayur, etc) and not Mahabali. Mahabali was a good king - but he had flaws - and therefore is never worshipped

@@mlg1279 I didn't said that we don't worship the supreme lord mahavishnu.what I meant is on that particular day of thiruvonam we worship mahabali rather than vamana avatara...and to honor vamana avatar we would put thrikkakarayappan or simply vamananarayana between athapookalam as the symbol of virtue and goodness...guruvayurappan and shree padmanabhaswamy aka vishnu/krishna is our main deity....Hari om ❤️‍🩹.
