Technically: No. The Nürburgring 24-hour on iRacing ended when the F1 grid was at the starting line. There was about 15 minutes between the finish of the virtual 24 hours of the 'Ring and the start of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix. (A few years ago F1 changed the race start to 15 minutes after the hour, hence 15 minutes in between.)
@@Hydrazine1000 I love how Helmut Marko said that he was happy the 24H race was finished before the F1 race, otherwise the team had to update him throughout the race xD
This has to stop, they can't do this to a professional. We have to talk to the FIA so that they do not schedule F1 races when there are 24-hour races on iRacing.
What a madman? What an absolute legend more like. There isn’t a scale available to define just how cool it is that he not only enjoys iracing, but a 24hr event in the middle of a gp weekend.
There are a lot of Max haters out there, but this just confirms that Max doesn't drive F1 because he has a passion for F1, he does it because "RACING" is his everything. He Loves racing, he IS racing. If you don't have this same passion for racing as Max does, you won't keep up with him. This is why he is my racing GOAT.
He is one of the few in the F1-Grid who are REALLY into racing. Most of the others just have rich daddys. They don't compete in sim racing, because they wouldn't stand a chance against some of those racers/gamers there. Because it's a competition where a rich daddy doesn't make the difference.
What I learned from this is that I have been overdriving the living hell out of GT3's at the Nords! This lap was RAPID and yet so much calmer, smoother and more relaxed than any lap I have EVER done! Crazy stuff. (btw the vids description has the game listed as Gran Turismo Sport, which iRacing is definitely not.)
He makes driving at breakneck speed look easy and leisurely. The amount focus I need to even do a few corners on this track is tremendous and I am not able to stay mistake free for the whole lap. Meanwhile, the way he drives is like a bot!
The first 30s contains more skill and talent than my whole life of virt-racing. In every curve you can feel he is driving the car at the limit of the tire slip, and car is utilising the very last bits of grip.
0:32 Wow Max actually takes the same line as me through this corner...I thought I was the only person who does this. When Lewis Hamilton was playing Gran Turismo Sport on Nürburgring at this corner, he took the wide line where he would shift the car to left side of the track before turning right into the corner. At the time he was giving commentary throughout the lap and he said something along the lines of "You want to drift the car out to the left side of the track to hit the apex mid-corner"...completely ignoring the fact that the banking allows for you to arrive into the corner straight on.
In GTR Evo, I did a lap of the Nordscleife in 7:10 in an Audi R8 sports. Though I'll admit 2 things: 1). It didn't include the section of the race track, just the old Nord. 2). Braking assist was off, gear changes auto, traction control on. Still, I was on the ragged edge throughout the 14km lap. Felt pretty proud of myself, ngl. In truth, I can't race for shit.
Its insane the small details these guys instinctively handle they probably couldn't tell you what it is but just small efficiencies in braking acceleration and keeping the grip on the tires to a max, not sliding or underdriving at any moment of time. Sadly i love racing but i don't think i have the talent to fight for championships. I can drive for the odd race win or podiums on iRacing but some guys seem to have something extra with the speed.
