@The-Enthusiast47 I agree with your comment about the "burble" exhaust sound of this Porsche flat-4 engine. 90-degree V8 engines with a cross-plane crankshaft display a rather similar exhaust sound. V8 engines have an exhaust line per bank of cylinders. For 90-degreeV8 engines with a cross-plane crankshaft, the firing order (many options are possible) results in uneven variations of the pressure pulses in every exhaust line. A similar phenomenon is observed in the flat-4 engines. If they have an exhaust line per bank of cylinders, also the pressure pulses are unevenly distributed. 90-degree V8 with a flat-plane cranshaft run like 2 paired inline-4, so the pressure pulses are evenly distributed in each exhaust line.

Back in California, i had a Vokaro roadster. Fitted two Weber carbs and a "light" dual tip exhaust system. It sounded almost the same except the lower rev limit. i was also surprised how good even a simple 1600cc Typ1 sounds with the right exhaust and intake.

The weight 655kg! Kei cars in Japan when I was young weighed about the same, but their engines were about 600cc with 50 hp, plus they were narrower and taller, so this car must feel like a rocket Kei. I just miss those small, lightweight cars. No modern technologies can replace that feeling.
