Once on This Island is a coming-of-age one-act stage musical with a book and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and music by Stephen Flaherty. Based on the 1985 novel My Love, My Love; or, The Peasant Girl by Rosa Guy, this Philippine production was staged in 2005, directed by Bart Guingona for Actor's Actors Inc. and Silang Communications Inc.

Thank you for uploading this. It seems like the last broadway revival (2017) was based on this as the vocal and musical arrangements sounds very similar compared to the original 1990 production. Although this was lower budget but it sounds comparable.

What a great production! I'm hoping it was a final dress, since the audience seemed very sparse. I got to see the original B'way production because a friend was in the cast. Later I got to witness legendary Lilas White (replacement for Asaka) bring down the house with "Mama Will Provide" during a Mother's Day Sunday matinee!

They took the part of the Grand hommes light skin and peasants dark skin but proceeded to use the names of the BLACK peasant voodoo gods. Nope

What's your point? It's an existing play that they have re-staged. Are they supposed to change the names of the characters in the existing play? Your comment is beyond ridiculous.
