Actually that's not the 1st time he was truly selfless.. He went to save Henry even knowing the boy would be his undoing. He killed Pan & sacrificed himself to save the town. #TeamRumple
Yes, but this was also an end all, "I really do think I'm going to die and I want you to live your life." Type deal. I mean, I know he knew he might die in Neverland, but he was also wrestling with the idea that killing Henry could save him. But this time he sent Belle away truly and utterly believing that he was never going to see her ever again. He didn't ask her to stay with him in his last moments or risk her getting dragged to the Underworld too. He was willing to give up his happiness and be lonely so she could still have a life beyond Storybrooke, even if it wasn't with him.

He was willing to give up his life in neverland if that meant getting all of them home save. He sacrificed himself to destroy Pan. He has spent his entire life searching for his son only to lose him again. And they're still saying he doesn't deserve his happy ending, that this is the first time he's been truly selfish? Byeee
+ItIsIlse I think he deserves his happy ending, but he needs to start making the right choices again. He can't choose darkness every time it seems like things aren't gonna go his way. And if he has a prayer or making a go at it with Belle, he needs t come clean and tell her the truth. Withholding things is what derailed their marriage to begin with..

When I first saw this, I was furious because I wanted Belle and Rumple back together; I've been rooting for them from the beginning and this seemed backwards to me. However, watching it again, I see what a beautiful, sweet and sad little scene it is. And of course Robert Carlyle's heartbroken Rumple stole my heart all over again💚. I will admit, this is one of my favorite couples and I get so torn up every season because of all their drama, yet I still maintain a hope for them. The Beauty and the Beast story has a happy ending, however, I think Rumple would have to willingly and knowingly give up the power. In season 4, it was removed from him because it was killing him...I wonder if there's a way for him, the purest hero that ever lived, to literally purge the darkness from himself. Maybe he'll become the Light One he was during Operation Mongoose.
Yeah I know the show is about snow and her prince because Snow White was the first Disney princess (I think) but it’s easily could have been focused on beauty on the beast. I think part of their charm is that they’re off to the side and under rated. I would totally watch a spin off show about rumple, belle, bae, and later Gideon
This was the last great Rumbelle scene before the dark ages of Rumbelle, season 5b and 6a. Perhaps now with season 6b and the hug of episode 13, Rumbelle is finally escaping it's dark ages and being repaired.
Re-watching this, total heartbreak. Rumple trying to do one last thing for his true love, knowing he is going Back to the underworld/hell and won't ever see her again (those eyes and the break in his voice). I say "hell", because the world he described and the underworld they went to seem very different in the coming episodes. The look he has when Belle comes in ❤️
I low-key think that you're either a Hook fan or a Rumple. I'm a Rumpler, plain and simple, and only liked Hook when he was the dark one. Contrarily, I know someone who really dislikes Rumple, but likes Hook
Kaldur Skipper I don’t dislike hook but I’m definitely a rumple fan haha. the actor who plays him is fantastic and the character is so complicated and interesting. Even when everyone hates him I’m still rooting for his happy ending. I don’t mean to be cynical but I think that hook gets a lot of his appeal from his physical appearance and flirtatiousness . I’ve always felt more interested in personality. What is on the inside is important. I’m not trying to put down hook or anything and I’m glad people like his character I just don’t think he compares to rumplestiltskin.

While I do find that Hook has his charming moments, and that I am partial to a man with eyeliner, I feel like most of his fanbase, the hookers, are interested in him because of his looks. Now it is also a layered character, no hate towards Colin who did an amazing job, but Robert absolutely killed it! The emotion he brought, and the different sides to Rumple/Gold/Weaver was amazing. Either you love his character or you do not, but it is clear to see that Robert Carlyle was by far one of the best actors on the show. But again it also depends on what they are given to work with. Emilie is an amazing actress, but I feel like she was not given the opportunity to show what she could really do (she did do amazing with the material offered to her)
I'm wondering if after this, he felt like he had nothing to lose, and that's why he became the Dark One again. And I'm very surprised that Belle didn't smell a rat when he told her goodbye. The way he's acting makes it very clear that something *is* wrong.
+Sharon Rose lol Yep, probably. Something drastic has to happen to make Gold change his ways for good and Belle simply leaving clearly isn't it. One of two things, or both could happen by the end of this season: I strongly believe we are going to see Neal again in the Underworld. Bae is probably the only one who could talk sense into Rumple, saying "You choose power over me and look what happened. I'm dead and here" or yeah, Season 5 finale Belle tells Gold she's prego. Dun-dun-dun Mr. Gold haha
+bigb860 Well, the writers say that the actor who plays Neal is very, very hard to pin down, so it's doubtful we'll be seeing him. 😢 So I think other familiar faces down in the Underworld and Belle being pregnant will have to steer him in the right direction. lol
Sharon Rose Well, I naturally think with the internet these days and how word gets out, the writers should be smart and try to keep it as close to a surprise as possible. I still think Neal will pop up at some point. I would just like to think there'e more to this somewhat out of no where revert for Gold. Why waste an entire half of season re-developing his character just to switch him right back to his old ways?
+bigb860 Because it's who he is. Lol. The real Rumple may actually be a good man and all that, but he's a weak. He has an addiction to power/magic, that is his weakness, so him reverting (while feeling hopeless without Belle - probably a jumpstart to his dark path again) to DO again didn't entirely surprise me. Anyway, I totally hope you're right about Neal though. It would be really great to see him again.

I'm telling you Rumple is like Ben Linus of OUAT! Dealing with problems of power/addiction to it. Let's hope writers will make his ending in the similar way. Maybe leave kind of an opened ending just like they did with Ben and him being in that afterlife with his daughter and that woman (sorry I don't remember her name now lol but I know she was also a French woman). Not that all OUAT characters will be in afterlife here either that would be tooo ridiculous :)))
Always wondered why Belle thought him giving her the keys to his car and telling her to go see the world was heroic? He's done lots of other things you could consider "being a hero" but that wasn't one of them. She could've told him at any time she wanted to leave town and he would've given her those keys and money or anything else she wanted. Sometimes the writing was just,..just...dumb.
You know though I definitely like this scene-There's just one thing that kind of somewhat confuses me every time I see it watching this episode: How is it seemingly like Belle doesn't know about the Dark Ones and everything going on? Doesn't she see them all over the town and everything?
she rather see him suicide so she can think of him as a hero, than have him live with her forever as the dark one. whoever wrote this got a sick sense of "love" and "romance".
+PsyduckWaterflower Well, then they should hurry up cause she's still sleeping now and I think that at best there may only be one or two seasons to go for some kind of a man for her. Anyway I'm still shipping interactions bettwen Robert and Emilie cause I love watching their scenes together even though I know their tv series characters/relationship has always been kind of messed up and not good and the Beauty and the Beast wasn't supposed to last as a story at first.
He has done a lot of things to earn it, he killed Pan knowing he would also die, he ripped his heart out and gave it to Wish realm hook to save him, Sure he’s done a lot of bad things and good things , but isn’t that how everyone is? , no ones good or bad everyone’s bad and good.
