Am Italian, I can only thank all of you for this demonstration of affection, and also to say a simple thing....music has no country, it has no citizenship....music belongs to humanity..and as an Italian I will be always proud of this sublime music that he has given us. Thank you Sir.
Eu, como brasileiro, sou grato a Jeová por usar um ser terrestre, Ennio,n para transmitir uma pequenissima particula dos acordes celestiais para renovar nossos espíritos e nos fortalecer durante a jornada terrestre .
Once Upon a Time in the West was my Dad's favourite movie, said the music deserved an Amen at the end. He was a 1st day Iwo Jima vet, full campaign, never the same. I rarely saw him, he drove a cab 3 hours from me and my mother. Morricone was a genius.
My dad, who was my best friend, loved this. He passed away many years ago, but i still miss him every day. I am almost his age now, 63 he was, when he died of lungcancer. This song always tears me up, can't help it.
To live, and to hear this music is to receive a great gift. This music connects on so many levels. There are no need for words. It is sublime. We thank Ennio for his sublime legacy.
@Tien Phan You misunderstood me... When I wrote this comment, it was possible to give a thumbs down and you could see, how many thumbs down there were total. And there were a lot and I couldnt understand that. Today you can see only the thumbs up in total.
Rest In Peace Ennio, your musical legacy will be always be appreciated and we are all grateful for the joy and pleasure you have given the world. Rispetto sempre
I saw this movie in the theater in Toronto when I was 9 yrs old! My mom took me and somehow sneaked me in. Lol! I fell in love with both the movie and the music. Today Leone's 4 classic westerns are still my top 4 fav films, and I'm now 61 years old.
Incredibly beautiful, poignant, moving, great. Ennio Morricone was one of the great, possibly the greatest film - music composers in history. I have tears in my eyes.
I saw this film in its original release and appreciated it as a good western with Henry Fonda as the most villainous character ever. As the years have passed, I’ve come to love the work of Sergio Leone the masterful creator of the best western ever filmed, in my opinion and, of course Morricone’s masterpiece of a score. I’m so glad he lived long enough to be acknowledged by the MPSAA with his second Oscar for his many fantastic film scores.
I have watched this movie at least a hundred times and it is the same every time. I cannot explain why it has meant so much to me over the years but it is like an addiction every time I get a chance to watch it. It is seared in my memory!
Years from now Moriconni and his music will be talked about in the same Way as Mozart is nowadays. Let there be no doubt in anybodies mind about this. An absolute Legend. Was lucky enough to see him perform live once. Greatness as Greatness is.
Truly beautiful. The last piece of music to be played at my funeral and hopefully many years away. I’ll fly to the cosmos on the notes of this music and into eternity.
I don’t understand how the musicians can keep those straight faces, I know they are focused on their playing but man I would be getting goosebumps and crying all the time...
The great man has left this world this morning i have been dreading this day coming i am so glad i got to see him in London last year, my heart feels empty.RIP Ennio thank you for allowing us all to be on your amazing journey.
This Morricone theme has moved me since I've first heard it...This version is basically flawless, and Claudia Couwenbergh has rare ability to hold that beautiful note through the change, at 1:12, she holds it! Most other singers break for a breath at that spot, compare, even the incomparable Susanna Rigacci has to pause for breath there! IMHO this is the way it should be sung, and echoes the original version as I recall it! Absolutely haunting and stirring, a heavenly composition from a Master!
A Great man in Ennio Morricone, left us a rich musical legacy. This must have been the sound, serenading him through the "Pearly Gates", as he entered the other side. May his Soul forever Rest in Eternal Peace🌹💖🎀🌺🙏

The human voice can be thought of as the ultimate melodic instrument, it has the ability to translate thoughts and feelings into sound. The voice is capable of a huge variety and depth of expressions, with the human voice, thought almost equals sound.
A weird, but fond, memory tied tied to this song from many years ago: Waking up to my dad impatiently knocking on my bedroom door. We had planned to go flying model airplanes that day. And this song was playing on the radio when I got up... For some reason it struck in my mind.
This is a beautiful song and the movie gave us an idea of how the railroad was built. The movie is true to form. It did not try to sugarcoat the issue of the hardships and the sacrifices our forefathers had to go through in order for us to be able to sit on a train and go from Chicago to Los Angeles in two days when it took them months. These are the small things we need to be thankful for.
You should hear the original singer's own version, it has lyrics and they are really meaningful, and just because u were mentioning italians, the song is originnaly sung by a portuguese woman, and that version has portuguese lyrics, u should really give it a try
Absolutely wonderful song by the Master (RIP Ennio) sung beautifully by Claudia Couwenbergh and accompanied by a fantastic orchestra..thank you so much.
