I’m an aspiring microbiologist and this show played a major part in my childhood. It got me really interested in pathogens, and gave me hordes of knowledge about the human body.

I remember going in to WHSmith regularly as a child to get the books for this series, as some have pointed out it was called 'How my body works' and i believe they were also accompanied by some body parts every month so you could actually build your own model human body, the VHS tapes were also brilliant. This was the most educational and informative collection I had in my childhood... I can still remember how ecstatic I was just to see the latest edition being sold in the shop. Amazing.

I loved these as a child I'm now fast approaching 31. I found the whole collection of books that go with these videos on RU-vid on eBay and now my 6 year old son who we home educate is reading them! They made things decent back then and the effort the put in is so much better than the crap we get now! My son loves the books so now I'll be playing him the videos too! Great resource for a home educating parent! Thanks x

The red marching things are red blood cells. Sometimes they're called "corpusules", which is why it's very cute and clever to animate them as bodies. Corpusle literally means "little body", like in the word "corpse" (literally "body" in Latin, but we usually mean "dead body" when we say it in English).

I have to watch this for my 7th grade science. The only good thing is can say is that the animation if good for it's time. And the voice acting is okay and the facts are decent, but dear god is felt like banging my head on the table and few times

Are you sure it wouldn't work? Well, I can't speak for everybody but thanks to this show (and a book collection based on it) I learned enough about the human body I almost didn't need to study again about the subject until the last year of High School... ... Because I knew it about since I was 7-8 years old ;-) (looking back, I probably sounded sometimes as a little nerd speaking of lymphocites, antibodies, RBCs etc. haha!)

Hello! Check out the "Once upon a time... Life" in Wikipedia, there are descriptions of many characters. Some examples: Orange "simians" characters -> Proteins Yellow ponies -> Fats Candy characters-> Sugars Yellow "mini men" -> Aminoacids Green asparagus -> Dietary fiber Letters characters -> Vitamins Salt shakers -> Salt or sodium etc. Best regards!

I think they are laughing, but it's true they sound a bit like sheep. By the way, they don't represent calcium, but milk (an exception of how this show usually represents molecules). Best!
