Time to split some firewood with split zilla the baddest firewood splitter out there!!! The splitter was built from scratch!! We had the Husquavarna chainsaws ripping and the firewood was stacking up!! We had the five cord firewood truck out there under the conveyor!! The Husquavarna 395xp was ported and polished by wicked work saw. I will be making more videos to show just how awesome split zilla is!!! The FrostBite Grapple on the front of the John Deere Tractor works absolutely Awesome!! Hope y'all Enjoy!!

Its so cool your kids get to work with you and their grandpa. Some of my best memories are growing up helping my dad and grandpa cut wood for the winter.... Must be a Michigan thing...hehe

Well, dad and grandpa can't have ALL the fun right? Right. So now he knows why you don't turn your back on equipment that can reach out to hurt you, he sure found the one trouble spot for that issue too. He did a fine job on that side of the machine, saved grandpa some steps and time as well. Awesome machine that one, thanks for the look at in action.

You are giving that child the most wonderful gift possible...experience! It is a mother;s job to protect her children but in this pc world of overprotection where many children aren't even allowed outside this guy will have an edge! And a work ethic to go with it! I'll bet he gives that machine a lot more respect now and he understands that machinery can be unforgiving. Good job!

It pretty cool see young ones working around machinery, that is how they learn, just so they don't get hurt, the thing about kids is that they are made out of rubber!!! Tell mom not to worry so much....

that splitter is awesome mine is pretty close to the same build minus the load table. also you son is awesome I hope that when and if I have kids they work like him. I know I did when I was his age. driving tractors and running a backhoes, real equipment not toys. all I see kidos do now a days is play on phones and computers. nice to see one working. hope he was ok after that pinch he got.

Good design! A lot of thought and experience went into it. Love the lift and the way the 4 way spliier wedges wing upward so the bottom split doesn't wedge itsellf in. All that you need is a better muffler. LOL

Your boy is 6yrs old!!!! He's bigger than me when I was 9.... LOL ;) My mom keeps telling me that I remain short because I started to work too soon (at 5yrs old) I was hauling bales of hay, one each hand/arm, when feeding cows. My younger brother and sister were rolling them though. We had fun doing this ;) ....don't worry about your son getting pinch there. He just learned how to stay clear. And he is very lucky to have learn it there. There's not many machine left today where one can learn and live to talk about it. Sad but true.

Wow that's some monster wood splitter and makes short work of those big old gnarly chunks however is a good job you have a big old boiler outdoors that can take that size of logs! It has a real rapid but mighty powerful stroke on that ram, I'm amazed how quick it returns to the closed position and the elevator is just right (speed, lift and reach) as well. All in all very professional. Glad your son is ok but he won't forget that warning and will no doubt learn.

Forty(?) years ago, every year a friend would gather wood (central Wash State) and dump it on one of three places. One pile is newly gathered wood (last load left in truck bed for weight in winter). Second was split (mechanically) and stacked for drying and third was dry wood ready to burn (I'm not sure if it was 3 or 5 cords per year?). ;-)

Mom cooked on a wood stove. Dad split the wood with a double bitted ax. My job was to drive the wood through a hole cut in a steel plate. It was important to make sure the pieces were all the same size. A larger piece of hickory meant burnt biscuits. That wouldn't do.

I do this almost every day funny thing is when winter months roll in you cant dress too warm I usually wear what the older fella is wearing when I'm out there all day. Cringed when u split up the ash for the boiler but that's just because it's our top seller... as Firewood if u can believe that. Nice vid nice splitter. We split up our huge logs(2 or 3ft up to 12 or 16 depending on knots as much as 5ft in diameter) with a splitting cone and a skidsteer down to avg 12" in diameter and then its cut and then split again with a tw6 timberwolf.

I like how the cutter wedges are offset so that the second split is slightly behind the first. Thus making the load less on the splitter by keeping it from having to start both splits simultaneously. Wonder if it was by design or just happenstance.
@cooksforest2811
@cooksforest2811 7 лет назад
95thousandroses yes we designed it that way, it's the same way as our cord king processor. We have done some changes to them over the years, we'll go over that when we do a video on how we built it. We did a lot of things right but still had some do overs. Thanks for watching Mike Cook

Nice splitter, though I feel sorry for the truck at the end lol. I would like to see Ford put their money where their mouth is and stick one of their new "Ultra tough all-aluminum Sasquatch-runner-Over trucks under the back of that conveyor and show me just how tough the aluminum bed can be lol. Seems to me, good old steel is the way to go. Ain't new tech a bear? hahaha. Anyhoo, keep on havin' fun brother, happy new year, here's to the best of '17!

A.L.L. Firewood yes we use that splitter for "clunkers". We built it about 6 years ago because I couldn't find anything to buy that would handle that big wood, we're going to do a video on how it's built later. It has 52 horsepower engine and can create over 90 tons of force, we don't need that much and it has split anything that we ever put on it. I have 2 full time guys working the firewood yard and we do from 4-7k facecords a year depending on demand. The splitter has over 2000 hrs on it and has split 5k plus facecords and shows very little wear. Thanks for watching Mike Cook

@cooksforest2811
@cooksforest2811 7 лет назад
arborist460 I can appreciate that, I started out in 1979 cutting and selling firewood. All I had was a chainsaw 3/4 ton pickup and a 6 pound splitting maul, had to cut it, split it, load it, and unload it all by hand. Tried to do 10 facecords every day, estimated that I handled around 40-50k pounds a day. By the fall of 1980 I had sold over 1k facecords. Stay safe and keep going you'll never know where you'll end up, I sure couldn't of imagined what I have today 37 years ago. Mike Cook
