UPDATE (8/28/2021): At the time of our visit in October 2020, the resort went by the name “The Grand Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real”. On or around June 15th, 2021 the resort was rebranded and now goes by the name “Paradisus Grand Cana”.
UPDATE (6/18/2023): After previously being renamed from "The Grand Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real" to "Paradisus Grand Cana", in September 2022 the resort was rebranded once again and now goes by the name "Falcon's Resorts by Meliá - Punta Cana".
UPDATE (3/3/2024): After previously being renamed from “Paradisus Grand Cana“ to “Falcon's Resorts by Meliá - Punta Cana” in September 2022, the resort was rebranded on 1/15/2024 and is once again going by the name “Paradisus Grand Cana”.

Do you have any feedback on the restaurants/quality etc?

We were a little bit disappointed with the selection and quality compared to our visit last year (RIU Palace Bavaro) but we think it may be due to COVID-19 restrictions/issues so I didn't specifically call it out. Also, some of the restaurants were straight up closed and that I think has to do with staffing. If you are planning a spring 2021 trip, you may not encounter the same issues as the vaccine will hopefully start helping...(even though I don't plan to get it lol). Is there something specific you wanted to know? Thanks for watching!

What a perfect video. It's like every question I had, you covered. And some of the other videos are so boring, long for no reason, and some people go on and on. Yours was right to the point, covered it all, and very informative. Actually wish it was longer, lol. It's been very very helpful. I understood the food in the DR is disappointing (in general). But were there any specific restaurants you prefer on the resort, and for any specific meal? Was there any entertainment? Did you like/enjoy the main pool, or private beach? Was there food and beverage service in those areas (included or for extra)? Did you walk everywhere (including the beach), or did you have to get one of those carts? What service did you use to get from and to the airport? Anything else you might have advice on or recommendations, i didn't ask about? Myself, husband, and soon to be 1 year old daughter (we're going for her bday) will be going there in a few days. Once again, thank you so so much, love your channel. Subscribing now

We're between here and excellence el Carmen. Not visited DR before, few cancel led this year! Have you been EEC? Thoughts between?

Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to visit EEC. We've only been to RIU Palace Bavaro and The Grand Reserve. I would say this about the two we've been too so far: RIU had better food but TGR had better grounds, service, rooms, etc. However I don't know if the food was worse this time due to COVID and limited staff/ingredients or something like that...

@@JF-yx2tb we chose Excellence el Carmen. But has been cancelled. We have no plans to visit DR now! We're UK based so still have restrictions to DR.

Thank you for a thorough property tour. Does guests here have access to the other Meliá properties facilities and restaurants? Also thoughts on the food? Reserve status worth it?

Hi Moni! When we went, the other resort was actually closed down so unfortunately I cannot answer that but generally speaking, Reserve members get more perks than non-Reserve members (we were just in Mexico and they had cabanas on the beach to use where non-Reserve members didn't). If you can get a deal on a Reserve room for not much more than a non-Reserve room, I say do it! In the DR (this trip) we actually purchased a room at The Level Melia but it was closed due to COVID so they moved us to Paradisus Grand Cana and that's how we ended up with Reserve. As for food, compared to RIU Palace Bavaro, the food was okay but not great. We really enjoyed the food at RIU. We just stayed at Paradisus Cancun and I would say the would was the same as Paradisus Grand Cana so I think it's just the way they do it. Hope that helps! @@TravelingUkrainian Thank you! There is a current sale with Cyber Monday and additional discount with mobile booking with Paradisus Grand Cana. The Reserve swim out rooms look amazing. I booked Finest Punta Cana in club level too but it is such a new resort I am having second thoughts so I think this resort is comparable. I am disappointed to hear the food isn’t of better quality considering the cost. Restaurants have all the looks but not the great taste to go with the decor. I assume all the restaurants require reservations too?

@@RoyalOrient Yes, all restaurants require reservations however you will have a concierge who will communicate with you via WhatsApp and will ask where you want to have dinner, etc. So, it's really no stress. That being said, when we went, 2 or 3 of the restaurants were closed due to (I'm guessing) staffing issues and COVID. Don't know if that has changed. The one meal I did really enjoy was the Prawns & Shrimp (if you're into seafood) at I believe it was Kona? Very good! Otherwise, we just ate at the buffet all the time and there were usually at least 1 or 2 things that were good each meal (whereas in RIU most everything was good).
