My lovely wife and I managed to get away again in October 2020 to officially celebrate our 3rd year wedding anniversary (albeit 5 months late thanks to the pandemic) and we decided to stay at Falcon's Resorts by Meliá - Punta Cana.
Tag along on a trip around the resort!
A full review of the resort can be found here: travelingukrainian.com/falcon...
UPDATE (8/28/2021): At the time of our visit in October 2020, the resort went by the name “The Grand Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real”. On or around June 15th, 2021 the resort was rebranded and now goes by the name “Paradisus Grand Cana”.
UPDATE (6/18/2023): After previously being renamed from "The Grand Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real" to "Paradisus Grand Cana", in September 2022 the resort was rebranded once again and now goes by the name "Falcon's Resorts by Meliá - Punta Cana".
UPDATE (3/3/2024): After previously being renamed from “Paradisus Grand Cana“ to “Falcon's Resorts by Meliá - Punta Cana” in September 2022, the resort was rebranded on 1/15/2024 and is once again going by the name “Paradisus Grand Cana”.

Great choice! We had a good trip there and I hope yours is just as good! Their Saona Island excursion, if you haven't done it before, is really great...I recommend it. My video doesn't do it justice! Thank you for watching! I really appreciate it!

Looks lovely! Do they offer parasailing, diving, kayaks etc on the resort?

It's nice! They partner with local providers of excursions and such but I don't think the resort themselves own any of that. Thank you for watching!

Another wonderful and perfect video. Loved how you slowed down in certain parts. Very helpful. Was that little buffet, a breakfast buffet, or something they have all day?
@TravelingUkrainian
@TravelingUkrainian 2 года назад
Thank you! I'm glad you found the video useful! That buffet was at the main restaurant and happened for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Although, most nights, the dinner one was outside. But breakfast and lunch were definitely in the location you see in the video. I think they do the dinner one differently because less people come for dinner as they go to the other restaurants such as Mina's, etc.

@@TravelingUkrainian regarding your room review.... What a perfect video. It's like every question I had, you covered. And some of the other videos are so boring, long for no reason, and some people go on and on. Yours was right to the point, covered it all, and very informative. Actually wish it was longer, lol. It's been very very helpful. I understood the food in the DR is disappointing (in general). But were there any specific restaurants you prefer on the resort, and for any specific meal? Was there any entertainment? Did you like/enjoy the main pool, or private beach? Was there food and beverage service in those areas (included or for extra)? Did you walk everywhere (including the beach), or did you have to get one of those carts? What service did you use to get from and to the airport? Anything else you might have advice on or recommendations, i didn't ask about? Myself, husband, and soon to be 1 year old daughter (we're going for her bday) will be going there in a few days. Once again, thank you so so much, love your channel. Subscribing now

@@nicolemalachi7996 Thank you for the great feedback! I really appreciate it! If you want to see my full review of Paradisus Grand Cana, make sure you check my website: travelingukrainian.com/paradisus-grand-cana-review/ Is there anything you would like to see in future videos or feel that I didn't cover? We will be going to another Melia owned hotel in November and I'd like to make sure I answer all of your questions :). RE: your most recent post, let me try my best to answer your questions: 1) Food in DR - personally I think it has to do with COVID, staffing, resouce availability, etc. because the food at RIU Palace Bavarro was REALLY good but the food at Paradisus Grand Cana was still good but not as good. But we went to RIU in 2019 before COVID and Paradisus during COVID. 2) At Paradisus Grand Cana, we pretty much did the Domenica Gastro Hall buffet all the time (as some of the restaurants were closed - again making me believe it was due to COVID), but we did check out Mina Meat House and Kao Asian Fusion. At Mina, I did the steak and it was good but not great. Unfortunately I don't remember what my wife had. At Kao though, I had the Prawns & Rum twice and man, so delicious. Like mini lobsters. You can see a picture of it on my full review on my website. Wife had salmon of some sort and also raved about it. So I'd say definitely make time for Kao. 3) There was definitely entertainment and that part was really good. One night they had a man and woman doing crazy stunts on a unicycle, etc. right outside the Domenica Gastro Hall. Another night they had a resort movie night at the main pool where they handed out headphones to those who didn't understand Spanish where you could watch the English version of the movie. The movie during our week was the 2020 movie "Doolittle". Wife and I just layed on one of the pool side beds and watched the movie. Was VERY cool. There is also a dance hall I believe near the Domenica Gastro Hall but we didn't go inside as we aren't really big on 'partying'. 4) We did like the main pool but the only downside was that it was a little busier and a little noisier with music blasting, so we actually spent more time in the pools that are closer to the buildings themselves. Much more relaxing. We did go to the beach a bunch of times and we only used the cart to get there...walking would have been far too much there and back. If I had to guess, it's about 15 minutes walk one way. I definitely recommend just waiting for a cart. The beach was clean most days although one day there was definitely a lot of seaweed. But that may be just a seasonal thing. We only walked around the resort itself. 5) For transfers from/to the airport, we used Otium Tours but do note that I believe this resort has an agreement with them so talk to the hotel first. I had purchased it direct from Otium for I think $110 USD and then ended up cancelling as I got for $88 USD from the resort. For this other Melia hotel we are going to in November, I had to procur the transfer myself (also with Otium Tours). 6) As far as recommendations, I definitely recommend you do the Saona Island excursion! So beautiful. The dune buggy excursion wasn't as good in my opinion and with a 1 year old, not sure it's something you'd probably do anyway. Do keep in mind that in the airport, they will try to sell you excursions, especially if you've been to the DR multiple times. We bought the Saona Island experience for $100 for both of us from someone in the airport and basically all we needed to do to get the discount was go look at another resort and just stroll the grounds. Except, it turned out to be a timeshare presentation even though they are adamant it's not a timeshare lol. They tried to sell me a package for like $180,000 USD. I got them down to $15,000 USD and still didn't buy it lol. So just be warned. Personally I recommend buying it from Paradisus Grand Cana directly as opposed to a 3rd party, even if it costs more. At the end of the excursion, you get to visit with star fish. Your 1yr old may enjoy that. Do note that starfish shells are rough so handle with care :). You can see my Saona Island video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3hAFBZyBT9o.html&t Hope that helps!

@@TravelingUkrainian thank you so so much for all your tips and advice. I can point out what I LOVED about your videos, which were different than all the others.... 1. You were very detailed about the room, which i loved, and it wasn't long. 2. I loved in your resort review how you showed everything in higher speed, slowing down for certain parts. This was excellent. I'm very detailed oriented and anal, so I like to do my research, and see where I'm going, especially if I have never been there before. Looking at other videos, they walk slowly through the resort, and the videos are around 30 min long. That's just too much, so yours was perfect. Also many have their partners and children talk throughout the entire video, and it's unrelated to the resort. Which again makes it too long and uninformative. The only thing that would make your videos even better (in my humble opinion) is, 1. Your wife is beautiful, and seeing her in the video, gave it an excellent personal touch. It might be nice to be able to see a photo of you both at some point in the video. Like I said just for a personal touch, as people tend to trust those reviews more. The other videos I mentioned would have the entire family, and children (which was very nice), talk about everything but the resort. So it got a little annoying. 2. I loved the simplicity and elegance of your videos. Great font, not too done up. Straight and to the point. But it might be nice if you occasionally would add a little extra. For example where you showed the buffet, maybe you can add a little title with the name of the buffet, or whether it was breakfast, lunch, etc. If it was extra, maybe mentioning that as well as cost. Maybe adding a little title of the name of the excursion, the company to go through, or where in the hotel you can sign up, and price. Things like that to just give a little detail, in videos you're not talking in (unlike the room review).I really appreciated that some of your videos just had a little music, and give you a taste, so you're not ruining anyone else's experience. You are incredibly wonderful getting back to everyone so quickly. But that will be hard to do once you blow up. Which is why I recommend these little add ons. Honestly you can ignore my points, as I would still watch your videos for reference, and are my favorite so far from everything else I've found. Best of luck to you and your beautiful wife. Looking forward to more videos. And again, thank you so very much, you've been REALLY helpful.

@@nicolemalachi7996 All great points and I definitely appreciate you taking the time to provide the feedback. I will keep these things in mind when I do my next video set in November (look for those around Thanksgiving :)). In the meantime, I hope to post one or two more of the Tampa Bay, FL area. Don't know where you are from but if you are ever in the area, there is LOTS to do here. I hope you enjoy your trip to Punta Cana! We loved the resort even if the food was not as good as RIU (but again, I attribute that more to COVID than anything as I'm sure farming, etc. was impacted). Take care and thanks again for the support!

I'm traveling next weekend with my wife and our daughter (11 months old), do you know if they have a kitchen for babies and infants?
@TravelingUkrainian
@TravelingUkrainian 3 года назад
Hi Joao, I do believe they have some options but it is by no means extensive. It is a family friendly resort, not adult only, so I imagine you should be okay!

is the beach in walking distance or do you have to take a cart?
@TravelingUkrainian
@TravelingUkrainian 2 года назад
Hi Misty, you can walk but it's probably a 20- minute walk depending on how fast you walk. It's far easier to take the cart. The cart is frequent so you typically don't have to wait more than 10 min.

Do they still have nightly entertainment?
@TravelingUkrainian
@TravelingUkrainian 3 года назад
Hi there Danny! We turned in quite early most nights so I know if it was every night, but I believe they do have different entrainment options. One night they had a circus act by the main dining hall, the next they had a resort movie night at the main pool (it was Dr. Doolittle). What's cool was that the movie was in Spanish but they handed out headphones that had the movie audio going in English (and possibly other languages). It was really cool. Again, COVID may impact their ability to do what they normally do but my opinion is that they still had a lot going on. Keep in mind that half a year has gone by since we were there so it's probably even better now as more and more things open up and go back to somewhat normal.

How far is the beach? A mile?
@TravelingUkrainian

Hi Rayray. It's probably 3 quarters of a mile if I had to eye ball it. In the heat, it would be a tough walk in my opinion.

It's definitely a bit of a hike if you walk but they have buggy service regularly, so you only have to wait 5-10 minutes when you want to go or come back. But it's definitely a downside to this resort for sure.
