FYI: I’ve stayed in a one bedroom villa at OKW 7 times over past 18 years. 1. Not all floor plans are alike. There is also one where the laundry room is contained and there is one bath area. We like the split bath floor plan better! 2. We use the long counter by patio door for packing snacks in ziplocks for the parks. 3. We only eat lunch in the park so we shop & cook & use every bit of the kitchen. It’s wonderful!! 4. So happy to see more plugs & USB ports! Much needed. Upgrades look really nice. Those sofas! 5. Yes, the chair opens up to a single person sleeper. That’s how they say it sleeps 5.
1. That's good to know! I think I would prefer the split bath as well having the choice. 2. Great idea! 3. I think as our kids get older and eat more, we'll start to do the same. It's great to have a big kitchen to utilize when needed! 4. The USB ports were SO nice! I used them to charge the kids tablets (from the plane ride), as well as my filming equipment. 5. Great video Angela the first place I ever stayed at Disney was at Old key West resort we stayed in a two-bedroom Villa for five nights we were on the meal plan at the time it was before we became annual passholders but I just remember how nice it was and how much room there was it was amazing I would definitely stay there again. That jacuzzi tub was totally awesome after a long day at the parks. Hey when you were there did you guys take the boat to Disney springs?
Steven, I bet you had SO MUCH ROOM in the two bedroom. Five nights sounds like a dream! I wish I had time to enjoy the jacuzzi but sadly, there just wasn't time! I did get to use it at the BoardWalk villas in April and you're right, it was awesome! We took the boat to Disney Springs once that trip, but I've done it a few times from OKW and Saratoga. It's such a nice ride! - Angela
My family loves the 1Br at OKW. With two teenagers we need the space and this works much better than getting two rooms. We like getting a room near one of the quiet pools for the mandatory mid-afternoon break. Plus Olivia's fried chicken is awesome! I understand your glee with the laundry room - if my son only packed 4 pair of underwear for a 8 day stay, who cares,? We used that bar/cabinet area as a charging station for all of our electronic devices and for a staging area for what we take to the parks each day (sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen, and bandaids/blister pads).
I can totally see the need for more space with teenagers! We really felt like we could unpack and "move in" for the week. It was glorious! Having Olivia's nearby was wonderful. I've never had a bad meal there. And YES! I grew up with three brothers. I know how they pack (or don't pack lol). The laundry room was definitely used during our trip with our two toddlers. Great idea using the bar area as a charging station/park prep area. We did our park prep on the kitchen table if I remember correctly. - Angela
The sofa beds are ok but not as nice as the normal beds. One of my kids takes the sofa bed and the other likes the chair that folds out into a bed. They have no complaints about the comfort but then again they are teens.
We just stayed at a 1 bedroom in Saratoga Springs, this is really different!! There were a bunch of doors in the bathroom area and the decor was not updated like Old Key west.
Saratoga (and the other one-bedrooms from what I've noticed) have SO many doors. You have to close four just to give everyone in the room privacy! - Angela
Great tour! I am wondering whether the window coverings in the living room darken the room enough for kiddos sleeping on the sofa bed to be able to sleep in in the morning!
They do a decent job. We’ve always had kids sleeping there & after day 2 they were so exhausted they slept like rocks! A rain machine or app running on an ipad blocks out the unusual sounds like the ice maker dropping ice, fireworks & busses consistently driving by!
I would agree with Karen. I spent half the week in the bedroom and half the week on the sofa sleeper and didn't notice much of a difference. The blinds work really well! - Angela
