Could not agree more (obviously... 🤓). Ever since I started riding trials, not only my technique has significantly improved on the Enduro bike, but even more importantly - I now see and try lines that I would've never thought of trying on my Enduro bike before I started riding my trials bike. makes my riding on the Enduro bike so much more fun. Loved the video Pat, thanks for posting!!

I've been riding trials for about 18 months and have had the same experience. I wish I started trials decades ago. I would be a much better enduro rider if I had.

Awesome to hear and great proof of how much it helps. Having more fun is probably the most important part! Besides the techniques and control, it definitely gives you a different perspective on lines to ride.

Totally Agree!!! The only problem with that is you might just fall in love with your trials bike more 😀, then it's a tug of war!!!!!! Best thing I ever did for my big bike riding!! Cheers Pat, you're killing it!!
@jeffbrownell279
@jeffbrownell279 Год назад
I definitely never had a problem with that.After riding trials since 2017 because I got hurt at a national I switched back to racing hare scrambles and Enduro because I actually get to ride.I found the trials experience helps in a few technical areas but can slow you down in a real race.When my friends say I cleaned it on there hard enduro bike I say who cares this ain't trials.A 2 to 4 hour race of actually riding (I timed a actual 37 minutes of actual riding at a trials at Pats dad's place with 73 kick starts on day one).Even at 59 years old I switched back to offroad because I actually get to ride.

You definitely have to blend the trials techniques with speed if you want to do your best in a race. But getting stuck and pushing is typically a lot slower than riding through something clean. Sometimes it's not and dabbing through it is key, but those areas usually still take control that trials can really help teach. Those are interesting stats on the local event. Those are a lot different from a race and some people enjoy the time between rides to study lines, learn, watch and talk to other riders. A national gives you a lot more riding time. Longer loop and more sections. Not many people are asking for more riding after one of those except the kids, haha.
@FactoryONE_Motorsports
@FactoryONE_Motorsports Год назад
Yeah that can happen too! Finding the balance of both is key but tricky. Thanks!

My friends who ride enduro/hare scramble are saying that with limited time they may be better off practicing the hard stuff on the big bike rather than splitting their time learning to do things on a trials bike. This seems to make sense if you are time limited. I'd love for them to get into trials and come out and practice with us but it requires both an investment of money in a new bike and time they don't have.
@FactoryONE_Motorsports
@FactoryONE_Motorsports Год назад
That’s fair. Although you can get more out of a short time practicing technique on a trials bike than a big bike… but not everyone is going to go for another bike.

The only aspect of trials that I find doesn't cross over to hard enduro (for me anyway) is aggressive riding. Sometimes in hard enduro you just have to hammer down and gun it, be very aggressive and assertive with your riding. Trials kind is kind of the opposite - sure, from time to time you need to gun it to get up a little pinch or do a zap, but generally trials is a thinking game, brains over brawn if you will. Often I find myself being too slow and cautious, where riding faster and harder would have been a better choice. I'm guessing I need to mix it up, do some proper normal enduro or motocross stuff...
@FactoryONE_Motorsports
@FactoryONE_Motorsports Год назад
That’s true. Trials definitely doesn’t prepare you for every aspect of enduro. Conditioning is nowhere near as important in trials either. But it helps so much in certain situations that I think it’s worth putting time in on one to benefit those technical areas of enduro.
