Your lesson on George Harrison's Between the devil and the deep blue sea taught me how to play ukulele along with his band on youtube... I recognise all the chords in the progressions.....Thankyou

me and the dim7, like me and Mrs Jones, got a thing going on. once again you’ve given me more insight on how to use my pre-existing cheats to greater effect.

That was beautiful. I might cry. From now on it's all dim7 chords all the time, thanks!

Ouch my brain is slowly melting and leaking out of my ears. Finally think I get the introduction. Moving any note of the dimidhed 7 up one fret gives the root note of a major chord that you can resolve to? Hopefully one bit sorted. I think I'll be back .

Thankyou, Christopher Davis Shannon for the music lessons and breakdowns of tunes/songs... Could I please a request for one played by George Harrison....."A shine on your shoes".. Thankyou for the music education.

I have that one on my list to do soon :) I've watched the video of him playing it a million times and it's simply so charming

So dropping a note in the diminished 7th a semitone gives a 7th chord . Dropping a half fret from a major 7th gives the dominant 7th. So doesn't this mean the diminished 7th is like a major 7th? Or is it all to do with the changing of the root note. I think I need a dark room . Must go write all the notes out and see what gives. B lots to ponder here. Any help much appreciated.

You’re on the right track! The diminished is not really in the same family as the diminished but you are right that the dominant is sort of the happy beige between the two. It had much more to do with the root note which you can think of as whichever you moved down to find the diminished. Then you would need to identify the seventh and raise it a semitone for the major seventh. Dominant and major seventh both share the major triad but differ in the relation to the seventh
