You're not going to find a new Bronco Sport Badlands for $37k. A used one, maybe, but a new one goes for $40k plus. Honestly, the best Bang for your buck is to go for a Big Bend and put larger A/T tires on it. If you want, a lift. I have a ‘22 Compass Product (Red). It’s quite slower than any other vehicle I’ve owned in a long time, but it’s not that bad. I got over 30 MPG on a recent trip from Gettysburg to my house at the beach in Delaware. Admittedly it’s downhill most of the way through Maryland. I love this car. One of my favorite “daily driver” cars by far. I can control most in-car functions by simply saying things like “hey Jeep, find the nearest McDonalds” or “set the driver temperature to 68”. Etc. And with wireless Apple CarPlay I simply ask Siri to make calls or send messages or play my playlists. And the adaptive cruise control is so awesome. And IMO it looks infinitely better than the Bronco sport. And since this is a 22, my fully loaded Product (Red) Compass was about $35K I’ve owned 85 cars. 5 Vipers, 5 Vettes, a Prowler, Challenger SRT, Grand Cherokee SRT, Etc. But for a little daily driver that uses regular gas, and has all these features, this is at the top of the daily driver list.

I think the issue at hand here is the fact that the auto mode in the Compass behaves like an actual auto mode, while the auto mode in the Bronco is much more aggressively tuned than necessary. This discrepancy makes the the Compass "appear" worse and puts much more emphasis on choosing the correct drive program. The tuning of the Bronco makes the GOAT modes seem less significant.

@Falcon-mc5fs
@Falcon-mc5fs Год назад
If you understand traction control or 4wd systems you will know that rock mode locks up the wheels the most aggressively and so it won't matter what terrain it is used on . All other modes allow more wheel slip. The advantage of going to a less aggressively tuned mode is to prevent sideways movement in loose or slippery terrain. The Broncos system simply is proving to be a lot better here at keeping 4 wheels providing power when needed.

@@Natethegreat200c Read what @Falcon-mc5fs said, it's basically what I was gonna say, it really won't matter in this comparison when it comes to the rock mode as most other modes would allow way more slippage which was what he wanted to avoid, which btw, mud and ruts modes in Fords are known for allowing a little slip to clean off the tires of mud or ruts that get stuck on it, so yes, rock is the correct mode, or maybe sand can allow for less slip too.

Yeah, the video is great but we also have to remember that the bronco sport competes in the size category of the (now discontinued) jeep cherokee. The compass may still be a compact crossover, but the category is not the same. Cherokee came in the trailhawk trim that offerrd lockable 4wd and lockable rear diff just as the bronco and that would actually be a fair comparisson (same size, same off road equipped options and a fairly similar price too). Too bad there are no more cherokees made

I have a 2021 Badlands BS. I can tell you, I have had it in situations where people said I couldn’t. I have seen this in action where I saw jeeps spinning, and it walked right through. The biggest limitation I have run into is my 10.25in clearance, and lack of mud section armor (which I plan to fix the armor situation eventually). I have a 1.25in lift over factory. Overall, I haven’t had to turn back from anywhere I wanted to go so far. Could I go where the big 32in guys go vertical? Nope. Do I want to? Nope. Not right now.

Video should have said comparing electronic traction control between two vehicles. When we say off-roading that's mud in the Headlights, are you need to roll the window up to keep the water from running in. We call these 7-Eleven trucks. In my opinion a closer comparison tot he Bronco Sport would actually be the Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, as the Bronco Sport is based off of the Ford Escape platform, and the Escape is much closer in size to the Cherokee. Plus, the Cherokee Trailhawk can come with a 3.2L v6 or 2.0L turbo i4 both making 270 HP, which is closer to the Bronco Sport's 250HP.

Traction control sucks essentially you’re constantly trying to keep momentum in deep mud, deep snow and when you cut power you’re gonna get stuck. Even with it shut off it comes back on when the wheel speed factory Nanny setting is hit it cuts power and your stuck. Unless you know how to temporarily disable it then you got a real machine 😊

The big thing no reviewer brings up is Jeep offers rebates on the Compass that drop the price thousands less than the BS. And when it’s in “rock” mode it seemed to be about the same off road although I think the BS would ultimately perform better because you can “lock” the rear end but it does cost more for that and the more powerful engine. And the interior decision could go either way but to me it’s much nicer in the Compass.
