Aargg to the crowds on the beach! I laugh every time I see your bedspread. I used to think every hotel you went to in the middle east had a special on that blanket. Then recently you explained how it was your own and carried it with you everywhere you went to lay on top of questionably clean bedding. Still makes me chuckle every time I see it 😁

Gabriel, Montenegro is not a great place for a summer vacation, trust me, I've been there at least 10 times in my life. During July and August the beaches are super crowded, the sea is mostly dirty. The problem with Montenegro, as a tourist destination for vacations, is that the Montenegrin coastline is only a little more than 100 kilometers long, and during the summer season, the same number of tourists crowd into such a small area, as on all the Ionian islands in Greece. And it should be noted how many times longer the coast of Greek Ionian islands is compared to the Montenegrin one. All the Greek Ionian islands, starting from Corfu, all the way down to Zakynthos, have a coastline over 1000 kilometers long.

When I was in Cetinje, this was during the Corona times, I went to the Lipa Cave nearby and since I was the only tourist around the tour guide took me to the other parts of the cave that is normally closed to public. That was such a great experience. Got the whole cave tour for myself exploring.

Yes, the water from the taps at Rezevichi monastery is potable. Very good, cold water it should be. There are three churches in the monastery next to each other, the oldest dating back to 13th century. When I was visiting there was an old monk there in the little souvenir, candles and monastery honey shop. The beach down there from the Monastery downhill (c.two km by car, less on foot through the village) is spectacular and much less crowded than others.

There is one magical church in side of the mountain, not Ostrog, but it is on the border of Serbian and Monte Negro. It's in Serbia. It's called Crna Rijeka. It's hidden, nobody goes there, but it is out of this world. Untouched for 100's of years. Inside there is healing water that heals all problems. All the pictures of saints are on the rocks inside. Hidden from the world.

The complete opposite of most countries! The only bad thing I hear from some westerners, 'To slow paced, people don't jump/rush to do work, take their time, will only work if big money is involved, so can't make any big money here'. My response, 'Then stay where you are. Don't come here trying to make this wonderful place into what you left, escaped from. We will make your life miserable'.😊

Interesting that it is another Žabljak, near Lake Skadar, with full name of Žabljak Crnojevića, even with so much historic importance as it served as the capital of old Zeta, nice exploring by you with that. The more touristically famous and bigger Montenegrin Žabljak is of course in north(west) of the country in the Durmitor region where the famous Savin Kuk Ski Resort (with chair lifts to the top to have amazing views on highest Montenegrin rocky mountains), Black Lake and Tara River Canyon (with famous Đurđevića Tara Bridge) are, so that Žabljak in north is known as Montenegrin mountain and winter capital.

I like that you do not pretend to be a PHD in history or archeology unlike many other youtube travelers. Just sort of relay what you are finding and qualify your comments occasionally and observe as a normal traveler, although you do have a nice base of general knowledge, probably more so than the average. It drives me crazy when travelers google 3 seconds before then present info as if they wrote an authoritative treatise on the "second Sino-Japan war" or whatever and what they are saying is gospel truth.

Pity that it was such bad weather today but it looks much better tomorrow in afternoon and afterwards at least. Mount Lovćen with Njegoš Mausoleum is a must in my opinion in the Cetinje region but there are also some nice museums in the Cetinje Old Town, like King Nicholas Museum (Nicholas I of Montenegro is known as the father-in-law of the Europe in the 19th century, just like Christian IX of Denmark, as his daughters were married to many different countries like Serbia, Russia, Italy and some German states). Ostrog Monastery is on the path from Cetinje to Žabljak. Have a nice time and weather in Montenegro, Gabriel.

While it all looks nice, it definitely seems the wrong time of year to visit, at least for me. Id love to see how this place looks like in may, june or september outsie of the European summer holiday season. And what about the locals? I always like to you know, chat with some people from the place I am visiting. Do people speak English at all? Is it possible to, you know, just go to some local bar and talk to people? Is that even a thing? Because it seems rather uninviting for a solo traveler in that way. A country may be the most beautiful in the world, but if you cant connect with anyone, it still is a bit of a miserable experience. And unfortunately with mass tourism going strong, this is more often the case than not in these type of places. Seems great for families or couples though, who want to combine a beach holiday with enjoying a bit of culture and nice landscapes.

I'm there too! Have been traveling, living off and on in different countries since 1977. Now, permanently living abroad, far away from the toxic U.S. Surrounded by beautiful scenery, nice people, cheap prices. I was getting tired of radiation treatments at airports, country regulations to visit, stay long term. The lockdowns, having to be jabbed, to travel was the final straw. Now, I see all the tourist crowds on the news, social media, madness in many countries, I know I made the right decision to stay put.

I hope, you are really enjoying Montenegro. The heat, thousands of tourists at the moment, are making it less fun. Most will be gone by the second week of Sept. Many of the locals can't wait for that to happen😊
