I think Zayn himself didn't know what he truly wanted at that time. Zayn just got to be in the boy band and he must have enjoyed tht at first. But as the time goes by, he came to realize he didn't fit.

+ashley kelly it's sad. and i have a pretty good feeling the "break" is just to avoid mass hysteria of saying they're breaking up. i feel like they are letting 5SOS have a year to take over and by then 1D will be mostly forgotten, their solo projects embraced.

I mean, there are thousands of thirsty signs at every concert, there are millions of thirsty tweets about and directly to them. And even though I really try to avoid it, I stumble upon One Direction fan fiction all the time and I imagine they are (like most fan fiction) very explicit. To think that all young girls are just fans of the music and not because they find them hot is extremely naive.

@@doodleloo You've never read fan fiction, right? I feel many people like to see teenage girls as still very innocent and deny them their awakening sexuality. A lot of teenage girls discover their sexuality through being fans of male celebrities and fantasising about them (also in a sexual way), which is normal and okay. And it makes the male celebrities "sex symbols", even though this description is pretty one-dimensional.
@@DRT813 thats true, if im being completely honest, however regarding them as sex symbols instead of focusing on the talent is something innumerous presenters have done throughout the years which kind of disregards their talents and labels them as a stereotypical boyband working on the thirst of young pretty teen girls. This is why they had so many haters back in the days. A couple of cute british boys cannot be labelled as the best boyband of the decade, they were genuinely talented and this fact is glossed over by several people due to the fact thay they are physically attractive and likeable, as described by their target audience, the teens, but surprisingly, the same thing was also said by whoever despises them and disregards the talent by stating that their business runs on looks. Now if the words from the mouths of haters and fans match, how could a band ever be taken seriously? Someone who truly appreciates music could only look beyond the cute boyband stereotype and put forth their true potential, but since this type of people were so less when 1d was at their peak, they had to work on with this title of "sex symbols" which they didn't want on them, and this eventually led to their downfall. Harry requested for hiatus while Zayn was still in the band, most likely for Zayn then requested it again after Zayn left. Most likely Harry won't go back to One Direction without Zayn, it'd be suprising if he did go back without him.
i know haha it's just odd that i'm older than four of them XD but i heard WMYB for the first time in a spotify ad (random as heck i know lol) and looked up their full album and loved it and THEN watched the music video and fell in love with them as people haha.

When she said boy bands don't last long You could feel the 'awkward silence' I think they all must have always thought of solo careers because that's what they wanted at the first place. This band was something that happened to them in the way of success.
I actually started to cry when she said, "Boybands typically last 5 years". The look on every single one of their faces. Like they all loved each other. Like they never wanted to break apart. Because this was what they wanted to do for the rest of their lives. Hearing her say that i think for them made them realize just how fragile and short their career could be. I never want them to break up. It may happen one day. But for now, i think these beautiful boys will still live life to the fullest.

There's lots of young girls who are fans, and I think its wierd to mention sex to someone as old as 10 or maybe younger. Of course I know there are also older fans, boys and girls but they understand what's being said.
Watching this interview in June 2017, when all the boys are in their solo careers now, is so remarkable, surreal and nostalgic To hear them speak about their loyalty to the band and to each other and how the average 5 year life span of a boy band is too short of a time together (and yet that's exactly how long 1D lasted...for now) is kinda heartbreaking. Can't believe these are the same guys we're now seeing making their own music and going their own way.
