@@thisisdnareacts5237 A whole lot of songs, so I'm not going to bore you with the details. However, I will say that Liam and Louis wrote the most and were often part of the same writing group (as Iman said). Liam often wrote the melodies whilst Louis often wrote the lyrics.

they did have a rock influence in both albums before but it was the production style that made it bubblegum imo. And there was just good ballads as well, my favourites are Same Mistakes and Truly Madly Deeply, Irresistible. But they never chose any of that rockier sounding songs as a single. It made total sense back then because since 2009 mid tempo dance music based on the r-n-b / hip-hop beats took over the charts. That's why I stopped following the UK top 40, it just stopped moving me, that's how I missed 1D lol :) But they wouldn't be noticed that much if they were known as a pop-rock band, so the boy-band strategy totally worked imo. The fans support is a main part of their success, of cource, but you also have to win over the critics. Otherwise it would be something like McFly but younger and international. I gotta tell you, fans love them (still do, including me :) ) but critics butchered them their whole career, they never get the recognition they deserved. I'd hated it if the same happened for 1D. After their second world tour they gained a global recognition that wouldn't go away no matter what they would sound like. So it gave them freedom to do what they wanted and it's great because we got to know them better through their influences :) Sorry, rant over, I'm just still excited about getting to know them :)

@@thisisdnareacts5237 Oh it definitely was different, it was a shock to the fandom at the time too. This song altered 1D's sound. Louis and Liam had a big hand at changing 1D's sound into something edgier and this album was their stepping stone towards a more mature sound that the boys were comfortable with.
