I absolutely loved the message in this song. Even if I did not understand the message....I loved what I thought the message was. So good, so wholesome and it is all about family. Family is the main thrust toward the "Story of your life".

Hey guys, This video got banned for the last month and a half. I am in the middle of a final appeal and if they reject my appeal I will have a strike against me. So, if you see this video disappear again. I am in trouble.....I decided to risk it because it is about the importance of family. I believe it is worth the risk for the message. If you see this video past March 15th I was granted an acceptance from SME records. Thank you guys for all the support. I appreciate you.

This video is absolutely amazing. All the photos, all thousands of them, are their personal childhood photos. And the photos they used to re-create are their real photos and families. It was Zayn with his little sister, Niall with his big brother, Liam with his 2 big sisters and parents, Harry with his mum and finally Louis with his grandparents and great grandparents. (On his mums side) To me the MV represents the first line in the song and the chorus bit. "Written in these walls are the stories that I can't explain And time is frozen" Like they all picked one special moment frozen in time and re-created it with great detail to look as exact as they could as the photo. That gives me shivers. This was the first song I heard by One Direction that made me stop and listen and wonder who sings this song. I loved it and had to check up the artist. Found a boyband with 5 amazing boys and never looked back. To be honest I find the lyrics a little bit confusing but the song is explained to be about the struggles of trying to chase after a girl who plays “hard to get.” I paid more attention to their voices and the vibe of the song. I do find the chorus very catchy and I LOVE the beat of the song. It reminds me a little bit of Mumfords and Sons as I also happens to love. YES. Family is important.

Love the video, very clever and the song is one of my favorite but 1D... but the song is not about family. It’s about a man not giving as much love as he takes in a relationship and it’s dissolving because of it. “ the story of my life, I give her hope, I spend her love until she’s broke inside... the story of my life!” It’s actually very profound lyrics that he sees what he doing.

While I get what you’re saying, and it’s an interesting theory, I think it’s about a person trying to keep things the way they were. It is about a family, or friendship, or romance however you want to interpret it. They give so much effort into keeping it the way they are but it changes anyway, and that’s not a bad thing. You’ll see the boys originally in frame, and then they become unfrozen but the others don’t. Because, they are still holding onto the good old days and not necessarily wanting it to change. And then, it does, and they, and us, need to accept it. That’s just my theory though.

I guess I don’t really relate the music video to the song in my theory. I am talking the song and lyrics alone. The chorus particularly... The Story of my Life... that’s a term we use to say things things happen in our life so much... it becomes the Story of my Life... “ The story of my life, I take her home... I drive all night to keep her warm .... and time is frozen”. I take that as he loves her and wants to be with her. So when things are good and they’re together... time is frozen, it’s all good. But the next line is where I take my theory from... “the Story of my Life, I give her hope, I spend her love until she’s broke inside... The Story of My Life!” I take that to mean... he may say and do things that lead her to believe their love is solid, but then he continues to just take from the relationship until she’s broken and can’t give anymore. Repeatedly so much so it’s become story of my (his) life. And I guess because it’s the chorus and repeated again and again, I took it to be the meaning behind the song. Also, where he says his heart is open but still stays in it’s cage... so he’ wants to be open to love...the good parts, but he’s not truly capable of opening up and being honest with his heart. “The way I’ve been holding on so tight... with nothing in between. “. Again, he might not want the relationship to end, but he knows there really isn’t anything left. Not the true give and take and honesty to the relationship. Just my 60 years and a 25 year marriage ( broken) take on a beautiful song. I guess until the boys tell us what it’s about, we can just share our own feelings the song invokes.
